- Hi Erich, thanks for your great comment! Yes, the underlying Music is 'The lonely shepherd' by Gheorghe Zamfir / James Last. Quite a classic, re-used/honored later then by Tarantinos Kill Bill movie. And yes, to get appetite is always good...;-) best regards TamOR
- BRILLIANT! See what you do, now I'm lusting after a Sand Rover, haha. BTW, would you mind telling me what music is the one that starts after a minute or so? THANKS for sharing this excellent video! mongoose1983
- Thanks to all of you! And yes (neobrunox), it's a bit 'at the edge' to use them...but actually, on sand the risk of damage is quite low....best regards TamOR
- Great vid, love the slow mo! mr.retreader
- Epic movie sir! I thoroughly enjoyed that, thank you. ModMax
- Wow Superb vid ! great to see these vintage in action & you are courageous to use your Shelf queen bodies ;-) neobrunox
- @ MAD-BEE: To answer your last question, what you see NIB-wise is listed on TC but I do have many built (either New Built or restored) and restoration jobs awaiting my magic wand that I still haven't had the chance to add to TC so keep posted as I will find time and opportunity to do so. Cheers James! :) sunnyjai
- @ MAD-BEE: Wow this is by far the longest comment i've even seen! Whew it's so long I couldn't accept a few times because it didn't have accept icon! Okay to answer your million-dollar question, yes I am totally moved to the point words are hard to explain how I feel. All I can say is the 80's were the best times for many and among em was Tamiya. The 80's best represented our childhood, the best of Michael Jackson, Rock n Roll, Pop culture, boombox, those cool shows like Knight Rider, Airwolf, Transformers etc and of course these era Tamiya kits. It represented this level of quality packaging, marketing, presentation that made us want one. I mean seriously check out kits like the 3-speeders, Avante, Blackfoot, Sand Scorcher etc compared to today, now what does that say? 80's ROCK! sunnyjai
- @ Steffen & mr alan: Thankyou gentlemen most appreciated kind Sirs :) sunnyjai
- @ beefmuffin: Most obliged to join your tyrannical Mathatter's SIG Lord Beef! Long Live King Beef Long Live King Beef sunnyjai
- That looks fantastic. Never really wanted a Brat before but I think I may need to get myself one now and really drive it hard! njmlondon
- Wow! Good buy! Thanks for showing off! pininy
- No they won't fit. The Pin Spike Monster Tires are for standard 2.2' D x 2.0' W wheels, and the WR-02 wheels (as well as Lunchbox and the likes), are something like 1.9' D x 2.3' W. doubledownon11
- When does your Tamiya shop open for business Sunny?? you must be fully stocked now!!lol;) A long one coming!!!!!As a kid when i went into my local model shop i would stand for ever staring at these shiny boxes with totally cool cartoon like images of wicked looking off roaders on there fronts! The Grasshopper,Frog, Brat and Wild Willy were the ones that seem to have the most alluring power over me back then! Such a sight and Tamiya had me under their spell at first sight!!;) Not sure why those kits stuck out for me back then but it was my era i suppose and kits like the Scorcher,Holiday buddy,Sand Rover,Ranger had all but gone! The first Tamiya i ever saw was the Holiday buggy and it was built so that opened the door for me! fell in love with that buggy but it was not selling when i started looking seriously for real at Tamiya cars but seeing this buggy was a big thrill!! and lit the fire! its a first time thing i reckon!;) but even more influential is the first time you see the awesome box art on Tamiya kits all lined up on the shop shelves! it is amazing!!!! Tamiya were so good at this! The buggies looked like they were in action on the box lid!!The cars had a bit of dirt or suspension movement! or in the air!!!they made them look alive!Just Magic! over the years the effort seems to have relaxed from Tamiya regarding the look of the boxes over time!! A shame as it was exactly these awesome looking boxes that got me hooked at first!!!! I don't keep NIB cars! I just have built shelfers and runners! but have a massive respect for the Tamiya box art and the design of the boxes! So mate! to the point...being surrounded by your vast collection of kits must be a very moving experience buddy!;) What do you think was the best time for box presentation?? Has to be the early 80s! How many kits do you have now Sunny??? Well done on the Madcap too!;) Cheers MAD-BEE :) MAD-BEE
- Its great!, I like how you have used the roll bar & lights from the BF3 on the front. Could you fit the original MB pin spike 'narrower' tires on those rims? (as it would be my preference, looks wise i think) but the wider LB ones will give you better stability, traction etc... If Tamiya did re-re the MB, i wouldn't be supprised if it looked alot like this! ...time to patent. :) Gripper
- Beauty mate! mr alan
- btw - join the madhatter's sig. i am the tyrannical ruler of it. beefmuffin
- Looks to be an excellent find, congrats! Steffen
- Thanks guys appreciate the comments! @ beefmuffin: *Wink Wink* ;) @ pininy: Yes your observation's are correct, and it's worrying me! :( @ hot rod: Thanks buddy! After seeing a few modded MadCaps they actually look cooler than I expected... Cheers sunnyjai
- Beautifully done and congrats for 'pulling the trigger'! Cheers sunnyjai
- Do you still have your Wild Willy 2?? Why not stick with that one! Thats Wheelie good fun too!;) and then keep this little gem for the the display shelf! If the re-re was the same i would say different! but these if in good nick could end up very collectable? My Pajero is too far gone and has too many parts from other cars so it will stay a runner but this one of yours looks A OK! Looks very original and not tampered with? Its now up to you my friend! Shelf it? run it? Don't matter really as it is a great looking fun classic all the same!!;) Cheers buddy. MAD-BEE
