Monster beetle / blackfoot alloy uprights

Recommended Posts

i just found this on ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/141948350838?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

the alloy uprights seem to be a perfect replacement for the stock ones, but are they as good as the crp or parma steering blocks?

by chance i got one set of the parma blackfoot steering blocks #12848 (for refurbishement of the old monster beetle) and now i wonder whether the alloy blocks are more durable and if i should get them instead.

I saw those too...  Let us know what you find out, if you order some!

I have Nylon block uprights (From 1989 - can't remember the brand) and they take a beating.  I think a heavy block of polymer is actually more likely to handle abuse without bending or breaking than metal. I do have aluminum uprights on my CC-01, but it doesn't have oversize tires and crazy fast speeds.  A big, blocky upright, imho, is stronger than a metal upright, assuming all are made correctly.
