Hello NOOB From Down Under

Recommended Posts

I've got these hex hub adapters on there way from eBay land. I found some "machine hexes" that had an internal needle bearing that sat on the Tamiya front axle but I decided to go with the adapter style which utilises the sealed bearings which I've already got but now have another set as they come supplied lol.

I've been waiting so long for things as of late. The international postal service has been quite slow...

Hmm.

Anyways here's a pic.

Not long now!

have seen those in pics, never worked out how does the wheel stay on the hex?

yeah OzPost is seriously dodgy, China stuff is taking 3-4wks these days and some fleaBay ETAs are out to middle of May now . Still waiting on a few items I bought before flying out 3wks ago.

But surprisingly ordered rcmart last week, they posted 30th & arrived 6th B) wow some things can still travel fast. They posted direct thru HKpost, no bulk shipping etc. Box did get a little crushed, accordion'd about 10% shorter - Lucky no kitbox in there so no loss.

Wouldn't you just love to go o rampant with unlimited funds in RCMART's warehouse lol...

The front wheels are held in place by the wheel nuts. Slide the bearing on the axle, then the hex, then the wheel, making sure the hex goes inside the wheel, then the outer bearing and then the wheel nut. The pressure holds it all o in place.

sounds a bit iffy ^_^

those look like 850 bearings, wonder how long they'll last doing axle duty. T at one stage tried using 950s in knuckles, they didn't live long :(

Nup :)

If I had blankcheque I'd fly to HK, buy in person.

RCmart ain't dumb, their online prices are marked high like gwailo/gaijin levels and streetprice stickered in HK shops is usually less than rcmart - before haggling.

They make sure we pay for the 'convenience'. -_-

Ahh well I'll figure something out.

All this just to run a nice looking set of rims!

I might just have to paint a crappy Chinese set... 😒

Haha yeah man they're sick!! 👌 Decided to go with the monster spike tyres. I already had the rims and didn't want them to go to waste. It fits the look I was after in the end.

I'm still not happy with the steering. There's alot of sloppiness and given the size of the front wheels in sure they'll end up ripping themselves from the body lol.

Just need a 2S lipo soft pack and fit the ESC and she'll be good for a test run 😊

The thing is I've done the threaded rod and ball cup mod off the servo and also a custom turnbuckle steering rod so I don't know how to make it tighter?

I measured them and put a search on ebay for blue aluminium shocks lol. They're nothing special but I did change the oils to synthetic 47.5wt as a baseline to see how it goes. I also used the stock front springs and the softer of the two sets of springs in the rear shock pack.

I can get the eBay links if you can't find them?

That would be good thanks 😊

I can't for the life of me find the shocks I bought. My eBay seems to have lost that part of my purchase history...

(or it doesn't go back that far due to me buying 1 million things lately lol)

Just remove your shocks and measure them from eyelet to eyelet and enter that number (in mm) into ebay with "aluminium shocks" in the search. Modify search results to be "worldwide" and price starting from lowest.

Good luck. Half the thrill is the chase! 😊
