striker rebuild and as usual , a few q's

Recommended Posts

so im mid way through my striker rebuild , before you ask photos are coming , chassis is in the spray booth atm.

everything is ok with the rebuild , fact is I've got enough bits to build a 2nd one but I digress while waiting for the paint to dry its got me thinking about cva shocks . the manual says stuff about using cva in the rears using most of the gear from the stockers which is easy to do but what about the front ?

I don't want to go crazy with mods on this thing as im aiming for box art/stock looking shelfer.

did anyone have a striker bitd and run cva shocks front and rear if so what was the right mix of parts.

Yo Paul - in order to run CVAs up front you'll need a Sonic Fighter front shock mount. It's higher than the one on the Striker but otherwise the same - look up pics of both and compare side by side. If you want one I can probably rustle one up for you before I send off your package... let me know!

ben ,if you have a spare sonic fighter shock mount id be keen as.

mat , I wasn't 100%on the striker in the first place , my god its a weird car , the designers must of had some good drugs that day lol but after the work ive put into it it looks good, very different but good , ben has a pic of when I first got it , ive misplaced the before pic and as promised ill get some pics up very shortly.

for true the beef has everything and if not he has a unique set of skills that make unobtainable parts/ kit find they're way to me lol.

Oh, allow me!

After (currently):

My favorite part of this particular wreck was the use of every last part of the decal sheet - that's dedication!

so just to give peeps a bit of an insight , I picked this up along with the gh2 for a think like 45 bucks courtesy of ben. the gh2 is next but im waiting on bits from jasons to rock up before I start it.

this striker has had something spilt on it which had attacked the plastic and stained it badly , I've spent a good part of the last 2 days sanding priming and painting this sucker , sure its not perfect but now its a tidy example of a striker . I also had to referb the wheels which I think turned out great and the tires will remain.

next I just need to sort the receiver which has a snapped antenna , sort out mr Roop , then its decals and colour.

nice job mate for a striker . So you have decals to go .

Yer not to sure what they were thinking when they come up with that & sonic fighter .

But I was the same with the falcon , but that has grown on me , so be it . Like a pimple

, but i don't mind it & will get one some point .

So how's the heat in Perth M8 , dam it's been hot the last few days . Great for fixing RC &

sitting in the aircon , Hows your aircon going ?.

Bet your glade you have got it in :D .

Its **** hot mate , so glad i got the ac done when we did ,i had today off to take the wife to the hospital for baby stuff .

The last few mornings ive been getting up early and working on the striker ,decals are ready to go just got to sort out the drivers head as it has the same stuff the reat of the body had.

To me the striker is the better looking one out of the 2 old step sisters the sonic fighter just looks bizare i mean seriously what were they thinking.

I wanted to do this one in particular because of the challenge restoring the body , i could have very easily used the nip chassis and body i have sitting in my striker box but where is the fun in that.

and there be the reason i left that country :P

least here i only have to worry about low to mid 30's and not the 40+ with no ac i was having to deal with in the middle of vic as a night shift worker...

as for the reason of this thread, it's looking really good and clean now, great work :)

Although I consider the Striker to be "Tamiya's window-licking child", that paint and restoration looks great! ;)
