chickenman242tk 266 Posted July 5, 2015 I just bought a box of parts that was a some point said car , I now in the process of working out what is needed and the battery holder is missing with the exception of the part in the center of the chassis but that is also broken .I have started to do a quick hunt around for bits and have been unable to locate this ,j parts. is there something from another evo that can be used or is there another way to secure the battery without I looking like a backyard job?. also it has a 0.6 mod spur with it and I cant find the originals ,what else can be used ? chickenman242tk 266 Posted July 5, 2015 I think sp 989 was the one i was looking for earlier ,ill keep on hunting .as for the spur gear what part would be suggested
chickenman242tk 266 Posted July 5, 2015 I don't think the spur that came with it is the std one as its white and its a 79t ill have to hunt some different ones done at a later stage , as for the battery holder I have the top strap part and whats left of the piece that bolts to the centre of the chassis , I may have to improvise on this one as I cant find j parts shipped to oz without spending more than the value of the car. I'm thinking of using a Velcro strap but still what the lipo to be secure. powerplant will likely be a 10.5 or 13.5t bl system and I want to use lipos for sure. qatmix 794 Posted July 5, 2015 Just use battery tape. It lasts for ages allows the chassi to flex properly and also is light.
chickenman242tk 266 Posted July 5, 2015 what is this battery tape you speak of , that would work as I was wanting to replace that broken centre piece with the nice hop up alu bit.

chickenman242tk 266 Posted July 6, 2015 sweet ,would you happen to have a pic of it used in a car? so my next question about this car , suspension arm mounts , I have 2 1d mounts ,I nip part #51065 which says its for a trf 415 or an evo 3 but the correct one in the manual is 53713. from what I can work out I need 3 'a' mounts are the evo 3 mounts the same as evo 4 mounts? . I was hoping to start slowly buttoning it up but I cant until I sort this out and don't really want to pull the trigger on the wrong bits as parts are usually 3-4 weeks away. WillyChang 1814 Posted July 6, 2015 they're usable if you don't mind colour differences... olive green vs red vs T darker blue Only later did they go to the "1" I believe in the evo5 which sit 1mm lower afaik EvoIVs seem to follow me home too, had a succession of them even though they don't work as well as eIII or e5 for me. Latest lostdog rescue got upgraded to eIVms spec gear cases, TB03 spool and R31 suspension
chickenman242tk 266 Posted July 6, 2015 cheers for all the info guys , so I guess I need to ask what would be a good base setup I have the 2 1d mounts can I use them and buy 2 say 1a mounts or something , im not looking at hardcore racing just want a baseline and im unsure where to start. I've been told you have a nice collection of evo's will, I've been chatting to a guy a joondalup hobbies ,says you're the guy to speak to on here about them. WillyChang 1814 Posted July 7, 2015 You can use the 1s just pop a 1mm spacer between mount & chassis to raise them up. T makes spacer plates or can use washers or collars for bushmechanic style... 2x 1Ds on same end of car will give zero toe angle but wider track compared to 2x As or 1As. Some ppl use that adjustment for track tuning... others use it to make "stance" fit certain bodyshells hehehe I've been told you have a nice collection of evo's will, I've been chatting to a guy a joondalup hobbies ,says you're the guy to speak to on here about them. hahaha sounds like you've been chatting to Soozie? yeah he's the nice fella that found me the eIVms gear cases used above I like my eIIIs & e5s (& VDFs) but could never get any magic outta the eIV for some unknown reason, even though there's some much parts commonality. Have you gotten your batt mount sorted? Might have some extra eIII plastics stashed somewhere... but tbh the stickpack wall is pretty useless unless you really want to run sticks. With ladderpacks we would bolt in 2 stoppers in the side holes to stop pack sliding out sideways - Proline wing nuts were usual goto. With lipo it would be best to use tape or get a tray bolted in. Main thing to avoid is batt touching shaft...
chickenman242tk 266 Posted July 7, 2015 I'm thinking i'll probably use the tape as most of my lipos are hard case and its a bit easier in that sense , I've located the alu centre piece just gotta get the funds ,as for the suspension mounts I would like to go for 'a' on the front arms and get another a for the front rear and use the d I have in the rear, does that sound right ? yah its funny I actually met him while I was doing some work on the track for perth rc's indoor track and he came to help for a bit ,it took me a while to find out he works for joondalup and they have a huge Tamiya support there.
