  1. here's mind.... SOO MUCH FUN on brushless/lipo power.... Although the landings from jumps make me cringe a bit due to lack of any buffer in the gearing... Having said that...I haven't replaced any gears yet... http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?...c=63277&hl=
  2. I'm running Proline Gladiators (m2, yellow dot) on the rears of my Blitzer Beetle...Good all 'rounder for bashing....not so great on hard pack, blue groove clay tho....
  3. whoa...those are beefy! What did you use?
  4. Thanks! I appreciate that. Its sites like this and a few others that gave me the tips to get this thing together.... S'cuse the dirt and the curb rash...it was a result of trying to run with some of the newer short course kids....The old girl actually did okay....I started dead last...moved up to midpack....But she got booted aside into the pipes a couple of times...no thanks to my driving most likely...
  5. It figures that as soon as I finish my resto/mod on an original Blitzer Beetle, the announce the re-release. So here are just a few quick snaps of my rebuild 1: with my Parma lexan bodyshell for bashing to preserve the OEM blitzer shell: 2: with generic aluminum DF03 shocks, custom threaded upper camber links, and Blackfoot extreme universals....also, Reedy 3300Kv brushless motor and heatsink 3: Overview with SC450 BL ESC, Venom 5000nimh battery, and Flysky receiver....hard to see, but I also made custom upperlinks for the front suspension as well as Shock tower stress bars (F/R). Replaced the stock steering arms with 440 threaded rod so I can run some front toe IN for straight line stability 4: Another shot showing the lexan shell with Stadium Blitzer white wheels wearing Proline Gladiators. Car has full rubber sealed bearings, new gears and a steel 13t 32p pinion... I guess I should pick up another one when they come out to see how far I can take THAT one.
  6. As a former NY'er (now across the river in NJ) I'd totally be down to run my newly resurrected Blitzer Beetle... I'm in NYC more than home these days anyway....
  7. whoops I guess returns are in order....
  8. Hello all I've recently acquired a MINT Blitzer Beetle...with a thrashed body. The chassis looks like it was built, then ran once, then put away. This thing is pristine! But of course, I can't leave well enough alone, so...the mods begin. I've done bearings, steel pinion. flipped the steering arms to help alleviate some of the ridiculous bump steer, an esc to replace the mechanical speed controller, a reedy 3300kv brushless motor is on its way.... I've done universals but I've found that once the wheels are screwed on, there seems to be very little of the dogbone left in the drivecup. The pins "just" make it. If I add spacers to the axle side, I can't get the axle pin thru. I've used DF03 universals which I were told, would work (these:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120701348874). Are there such things as longer steel drivecups to use on the gearbox side of the dogbones? thanks in advance all...
  9. Hey all, I PM'd those who expressed interest already, but I might as well post it here as well. I goofed....big time. They gears (NO.77) are for the Renault 5/Golf GTI 1/12th pan cars...and NOT for the Sand Rover. I guess I threw them in the box of broken Rover parts years ago. So they are NOT for the Sand Rover. But if you know of anyone who has the Renault or GTI and needs these...send them my way!
  10. thanks for both of your replies. My day job had me a bit busy these past few days, but I will get part numbers for you both and PM you by this weekend. Sorry for the delay, but the day job is what helps me afford the toys! thanks
  11. Hello all, I just signed up to this forum because I'm in the process of restoring two buggies: an original Monster Beetle, and a Blitzer Beetle. While cleaning through the garage, I found a box containing two original Tamiya bags of Sand Rover gears. They are still sealed in the bags (although the bags themselves are a bit aged looking). Plastic is still white and clean. I can grab the part numbers when I get home, but if anyone needs em...Let me know. $5.00 USD, plus shipping per bag. Shipping will be by USPS... Thanks...this is a great site!
