  1. Its baaaaaack, well I missed the realease last time, and Ive restored a few stealth trans cars. Figured Id get this one. Get one while you can!!!! https://www.associatedelectrics.com/news/latest_products/2820-new-rc10-classic-40th-anniversary-kit----limited-edition/
  2. THAT is awesome, other then the Hicaps the astute is box stock! Are there any details in regards to what kind of motors were in the Astute and Egress?
  3. Thats amazing! Did the Astute and Egress make it into the Amain? Where did they finish? I swear race results in RCCaraction always reported just rc1Os, Yoko, and kyosho here and there. I never saw a Tamiya in the results or a mention.
  4. Dyna Storm with TD2/4 slipper for 48P conversion, TFR201 trans. Race bread bullet proof gearboxes that can take the latests lipo and Brushless horsepower. FOr 4wd DB01/TRF 5XX belt drives.
  5. Oh the days before cab forward! Looks great!
  6. The TD range just need front shock towers and nice bodies. Easy fixes for a big company. Alas it's Tamiya and they do embrace the weird.
  7. TRF is saving the day and going project is tracking as planned!!! Rear TRF511/TRF201 hubs fit perfectly once the hinge pin hole is reamed. A combination DB01 front dog bones and rear drive hubs make up this rear end. Universals for the rear would be nice and I have one more combination to try but this will work well and this step has removed another failure prone part, ie the gummy plastic rear hubs. Pretty much done until my parts from Collin and Serbia show up. Forgot to mention why I had to use different universals/dog bones. The standard DS universal fit just fine but the universal joint now fouls on the lower arm due to the rear hubs design. I also want to be able to use the pin wheels I have for track duty and the DS axles are splined for the hex, they don't use the pins which narrows wheel options.
  8. That's kind of valid, BUT you have to listen to your customers. The DB01 is more Tamiyas design. No one was/is making a cheap basher suitable for the track. They wanted to sell cars so Tamiya gave that series of cars the same features as other companies. Only one company has been innovative in the last 20 years and that's losi with the mid motor. BB is a great car, it only looks retro, a set of standard rear arms, adjustable turnbuckles up front and a modern body, boom nice 2wd. Alas ok great mod on the car, I don't think the TDs are dead yet, I guess we shall see.
  9. The front c hub, steering, and axle are a drop in after reaming the hinge pin hole on the c hub from the 201. Nice carbon reinforced plastic!
  10. Ok, first job to tackle. Can I get the TD4 slipper to work with the trans with out needing a 3d printed case, TD4 diff, etc. Love what Collins and Sgt Spiers have done. Just trying something different. OMG it works!!! I used a 28 tooth 48P pinion that I had from a set of pinions that I mistakenly bought years ago that had the larger non standard 5mm bore. The pinion slides right over the shaft!!! The slipper shaft has a hole in it that I was able to line up with the pinions grub screw. I used my drill bress to open the slipper shafts hole up a tiny bit in order to alow the pinion grun screw to fit. It's almost a perfect fit. If the pinion was about 1mm thinner I'd be able to use an eclip on the end of the slipper shaft to secure it. Alas it's not. I stacked up 3 plastic bushings and a couple shims to keep the shaft from moving. Weight 50 percent less then the standard Tamiya set up and now I can use 48P spur and pinions!!! Still spins super smooth
  11. Close, no carbon.....yet. Fibre reinforced Factory parts from TRF biggies, big bored, and some CVDs.
  12. Ok ok, I'll go. Inside we got: DBO1 rear CVDs, TR201 front hubs, and axles, TD4 slipper, front big bore shocks and springs, and some spare screws and nuts. I'm trying to build this as a reliable runner as if Tamiya would bring this back out with upgraded parts. The TRF201 parts are fibre reinforced and should add to reliability. The DB01 CVDs are for 511 rear hubs that I'm going to use. Collins rear suspension mounts and E4 will replace the failure prone factory parts with metal parts from a well know seller in Serbia for the teams mount and front arm mount. The new parts should alow me to actually drive it, and will allow me to save the Uber rare parts. Super excited! Apparently on all the excitement I didn't take a pic of all the parts pre-assembled. Here's the TRF201 front hub stuff.
  13. Oh man UPS and FedEx just dropped off goodies. Who wants to guess what's lies inside these wonderous presents?
  14. Judging by the huge success of the BB01 I think we will see more off-road stuff. Just hopefully more contemporary like the DB011 and BB01. It's like Tamiya doesn't learn their lessons. DB01, contemporary car, huge success. DB02, odd center gearbox, and odd batter pack under drive line set up, huge flop. So what does Tamiya do, release odd 2wd and 4wd clean slate designs. Op your solution is how it shouldve came out !
  15. Have they shown anything in the way of supporting it and/developing it?
