Might need a bec

Recommended Posts

I am currently trying to fit some spotlights to a workmates rc.

He is using a castle sv3 which I believe has a poor internal bec (4.8-5.0v).

I plugged in a premade set of x4 LEDs which I think are 2x series (6.0v)

The lights barely have a glow, if I plug in a 4.8v receiver pack they get quite a bit brighter but not as bright as my set does with a esc with a 6.0v internal bec.

Bottom line is mate doesn't want to fork out $ for a castle bec just to power some lights, can I run one of these hobbywing ubecs? What are my other options?

Cheers.

Why don't you just add in some resistors, and run them directly off the 7.2V battery??

It has to be a cheaper alternative to buying a separate UBEC..

Here is a LED resistor calculator..

Personally, I run a separate resistor to each LED..
