Top Force chassis dilemma

Recommended Posts

Not sure what to do with this.

It's a Top Force, obviously, but I've just bought a new hopped up TF chassis which my Evo body & wheels now live on, so I have this spare chassis.
Options are
1) Top Force (58100 Boxart)
2) Terra Conqueror
3) Top Force hybrid 1990's style runner
4) Sell it Wez, 50% of your collection is based on this chassis.
5) Something else I haven't thought of

Terra Conqueror, they are getting rare.

Or a present to Kontemax.

Max

Not sure what to do with this.

Blazing Star! :P or maybe a touring/rally car. I'm in a similar boat with plastic tubbed DF01. It looks like a Manta Ray without a body right now, but if I could find a pair of orange star dish wheels, I could make a TC as I have a body and 01R motor looking for a new home.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I've decided to go for a 90's Tamiya hybrid :)

I was gonna buy a mint Terra Conqueror last year, decided against it and regret it now, really classy buggy imo.

Couple of changes :)

This now has a TA01 red rear gearbox casing!

I replaced the front TF frp damper mount with a MR plastic one and experimented with hacking off a couple of cm's and fitted shorter dampers.

Will give it a run tomorrow to check it's tolerance.

I did have plans to use a madcap body like the Jamie booth MR/TF but that's gone a bit wrong lol,
Probably gonna go for a TF body with a random colour/decal scheme.

Relax :) I've not destroyed the body, I've just decided against using it for now as I want to use an undertray and it doesn't marry up with the madcap body.

I have no idea how this will end up either!

I used to have a Parma body for a Kyosho Lazer which fitted the Top Force and I believe the UK Tamiya team used the same shell on their Top Force and the TRF411 proto in 93.

I've decided to go with a Top Force body, in white or something light.

Wheels are black lightweight, hybrid spikes on order ;)

Powered by a Dynatech 01R

Here she is at the moment, ignore the photobombers :)

Little update.

I've fitted my Egress lightweight wheels and Hybrid spike tires, I've also fitted some vintage genuine tamiya blue adjusters to the rear.

***UPDATE***

So I continued my modifications *cough* on Top Force #1.

I decided to give my original plan of a madcap body a spin, I got this used body from tc member cosworthwesty.

I removed the stickers from the madcap shell and gave it a wipe down, drilled two new holes for it but the front of the body was too long and too low, so I trimmed the front end (sorry) and fitted a longer body post to the top deck.

The rear wing is a spare that came from an optima mid custom I recently acquired, not sure if I'll keep it on this but the madcap wing is too small and doesn't really suit the larger TF chassis.

I prefer the look of the TF with the lower front damper mount (MR plastic mount cut down) and shorter shocks, but I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to cut down the original TF frp damper mount.

More to come, eventually. :)

Well, in the end, after all that, I went with option number 4 and sold the chassis!

Just the upper/lower deck and J parts were sold so I was left with the front and rear ends, and a spare TA02 tub... I've always wondered what a swb manta ray hybrid would be like :D

I replaced the original TF front suspension mount and dampers, its still powered by the dynatech, the buggy is a few cm's than a standard DF01.

Took it out for a run around this afternoon, my son, aged 6, is obsessed with the Top Force (hence the rear wing sticker) and thinks he's the donut king so I decided to spare my brand new hybrid spikes and fit these Optima Mid rims and tyres, the Mid's halfway through being rebuilt so it won't miss them for now ;)

My son at the controls (WATCH OUT!!)

This will be a pure runner, lots of fun, a few crashes and none of the worry of an expensive chassis.
