Custom Egress build

Recommended Posts

image01.jpg

So I decided to do something special with my re release Egress, I have been

looking on Member rides to get ideas for what to do of modification.

There are several cool things that have been done, and I will try to replicate

some of them into my Egress, but will also come up, with some new mods,

that have never been seen on the forum before. This is probably gonna be

a long term build so be patient, I promise that it will be worth the wait :P

(sorry no pictures to day, I just wanted to make the build thread so there

will be no turning back  )

Cheers,

Odd-Arne aka. bjorklo

Here is a picture of the parts I got so far for the project.

Is that a drill bit & CF plates?

I can only guess - new lower deck design and possibly new upper deck design too to accommodate the electronics on the lower deck?

Is that a short prop/ centre drive shaft ?

This looks like it could be very interesting :)

It's like ukfox points out, that is an Center drive shaft in Carbon fiber.

Yeah, that is CF plates. At this point I will not make new lower and upper deck, but that's a very good idea :-)

I will be buying me a saw this weekend so that I can start cutting carbon fiber parts.

Be sure to upgrade your respiratory and ocular protection, too; that sounds potentially deadly... Though I am sure you have already addressed that.

This build looks intriguing!

I think i have everything under control :-p Time will show, i think the clue is to have a fine enough blade, that cuts both way.

Carbon fibre shards can be nasty

Carcinogenic if inhaled.

Is that a TGX prop shaft? Does it fit the Egress? That would be sweet!

Yes, thats correct.. I saw an Egress on TC with this one fitted, after some custom work, so will try to Do the same.

Yesterday I got the time to cut the body.

Here is a comparison of the Tamiya Carbon Fiber and the Carbon fiber plates I bought.

Today I went to an hardware store and bought some tools I will be needing for this build, so now I can soon start making my CF parts.

More guesses; 😁

New front CF shock tower design?

New CF steering plate?

New add on CF extension on the upright steering arm to improve Ankerman?

Tamiya uses what is typically reffered to as 1x1 Plain weave. Most JDM (japanese) OEM products use this pattern cause it's typically the most uniform.

Your plates are 2x2 Twill, typically found in aftermarket products.

The build is going slow, still waiting for parts before I can start the build at full speed.

Today I got a bootle of RIT that I will use to dye my wheels. I wanted a light green color, so I ordered the Kelly Green.

rit.jpg

I also had to go to the scondhand market to get myself an pan. So all set to go

cocking.jpg

decided to use the Vanquish wheels

egresswheels01.jpg

After some time in the RIT, they didn't turnout they way I wanted them to be. Not even close to the color on the RIT bootle.

Final result

So of to ebay, to find another color that will be a litle closer to the color i want.

Here is the saw I will try to use for cutting the carbon fiber. I have done a little test and it ended up with that I had to order new blades
