TWINSET 1793 Posted December 18, 2014 With the increase in access to 3D Printing and online machine shops, now seems a great time for a new forum showcasing the creativity of TC members. The idea of this forum is to allow designers/creators to present and promote their RC related products.Product development threads are welcome, but so are threads linking to sites manufacturing the finished goods and discussing how to go about designing parts from the ground upThis forum will also be the sole 'sale area' for custom goods, whether they're 3D printed parts, CNC machined alu components or custom decalsThis not only frees up the 'For Sale' area for private ads but also makes custom work a lot easier to find. The only real proviso, as with the rest of the site, is reproduction goods; No reproduction decals No driver figures or kit parts cast from the originals, unless in a significantly different material - For instance: polymorph or resin casts of plastic parts or figures will not be permitted No reproduction bodies No 'branded' products or custom parts branded with RC manutacturer's names or logos Any parts offered by people that are copies of existing products are presented here at the designer's own risk - if any copyright breaches or infringements are made, that'll be between the designer and the original manufacturer to discuss.By presenting product here designers are, essentially, claiming that product to be their own work.
SteveU30 1011 Posted December 18, 2014 Great idea this mate, there are some really talented people on TC right now so it's nice to showcase it all in one area!
TWINSET 1793 Posted December 18, 2014 Thanks - it's something I've wanted to do for years, there was a SIG started for similar stuff years ago, but never much on the forums about 'design' until 3DP started to take off.
Toykid 595 Posted December 18, 2014 This is great Andy. I have had many people ask me how to get started with 3d printing, now we have a forum to discuss it, making it easier for everyone to find out more and hopefully get started making their own designs. Nobbi1977 1793 Posted December 18, 2014 It would be great to have a few basic how to type threads covering the basic free software and the principals behind its use.
Toykid 595 Posted December 19, 2014 It would be great to have a few basic how to type threads covering the basic free software and the principals behind its use. A great place to start for 3D printing is to check out some of the tutorials on Shapeways: http://www.shapeways.com/tutorials/getting-started?li=nav For software I use Rhino, the best tutorials to help get you started can actually be found on YouTube, this is a great tutorial showing how to create a spray can: James.
