  1. Hi all, been a while since I posted something on this project and it will be finished up one day Been waiting on some parts and also I decided to purchase the excellent Jamie Booth egress replica kit to also add to this kit to make it really special for me. My time of rc especially 4wd buggies and seeing pictures of the Booth car in Radio Race car, I couldn't miss the chance to have a kit. Also my good friend Mark finished up both body shells for me, I do love this particular under tray. It sums up my style as I don't really do box art on my rc's
  2. Great job, looks fantastic! I am in for a kit as soon as you release them
  3. Tamiya ace card is in the quality of the kit and clear, concise instructions, it's what marks them out from day one imo. Patience, correct tools can make the job easier etc. Totally agree, there's going to be a lot of variables as everybody will be different in their approach to building the kit, different visions for it and ability to assemble it. I think it's fair to say that most kits will be fine to build, the more complex it is usually takes longer because of more build steps. Now building unique and custom RC's that's a real headache at times
  4. Yeah matching controller, love the futaba radios, tbh never had an issue with them. Have a spektrum dx3r which I have used for a few years also good but the range is not as good as futaba or as well built and futaba has way more functions and really easy menus.I have recently sold my futaba 4pl to a good friend have a new one, will put it in a pic when this rc is finished, it's lush
  5. I was owed a favour by a friend and he had these parts sorted, but yeah I would say £80 is definitely on the expensive side if cash in hand etc if it's with the vat & receipt then probably about the going rate.
  6. Electrics installed. I have used black wires from esc to motor and battery to keep the black theme going. Used a little red heat shrink to mark out the +ve on the deans connecter. Cut the esc wire to rx down as it was to long and enclosed it in black braid to hide it. I also had to make up a connecter and enclose it, as my servo lead is so short. Fancy brushless servos hey Had to also use a shorter sensor lead, plus I used heat shrink to hide my antenna wire to the tube. Pics of install. Low profile servo used and just waiting on the servo horn and extra ball connecter so I can finish up the steering. Esc side. Front end pic. Rear end pic.
  7. 53244 TGX Carbon propeller shaft. You will have to dremel the ends on the shaft to fit the gearbox outdrives. 42194 TRF ceramic diff balls. YBA - 0001C yeah racing ceramic balls. It never cross my mind till you mentioned it, the BS Egress To be honest I just wanted it all black as it would be different and unique plus looking mean blacked out. Its why I went with black nuts/washers and hex hardware. I have used a couple of kit screws for clearance though no more than 6 I think. No problem on the build thread, glad you like it. Totally agree, it is a very nice kit. One of many stories that have been shared on here, always nice to read them. Thanks Zooter, answered the ? below as Kontemax has asked the same ? Cheers, I have cut the body shells and wing now, just need to decide what to do really. Maybe All the aluminium parts as shown have been anodised. It's a chemical process and really not something I would like to do at home or store those sort of chemicals etc Best advice would be to find a local anodising company and get them to quote you. Also to get all the parts you want anodising all together and anodised in one go. Metal surface finish is important to avoid imperfections and also the quality of the metal. I had to remove the press fit nuts from the motor plate carefully as they are steel and then after anodising carefully press fit again after they have chilled in the freezer.
  8. Cheers guys and thank you for the kind words. Started to post in "the builds" section for anybody who fancies a closer look
  9. Chassis coming together nicely, sway bar ends black Front end driveshafts and knuckles, tamiya anti-wear grease used on driveshafts as per instruction manual. Also assembled the dampers as I was eager to see how they looked. Then motor in and meshed up. By now the chassis is ready for electronics and I wanted a nice clean install as my ocd levels can be a pain lol. Will post up the chassis with electronics and more pics of the finished chassis tomorrow
  10. Some build pics for you guys, not to everybody's taste I know the purists would have built it to box spec but I never have done box art etc When the carbon propshaft was fitted. This pic shows all the parts that are black on the build.
  11. Hello everybody Been a guest on here many times, browsing really nice builds and also admiring the knowledge that the forum has on tamiya products. The members on here have some pretty iconic rc's and i do love some nostalgia. Tamiya was my 1st rc just like a lot of people on here and I really have a fondness for them. They just have that feel good factor and I applaud tamiya for that. I was also hooked and just loved modding and racing with friends. From my childhood days I remember catching 2 buses into town and just heading towards the modelshop. I wanted to see the fabled egress kit, alas they never had one in and the price was way out of my league and being a young lad the shop assistant was not taking me seriously lol. I waited for a while to get the cheapest price and it came before christmas from hong kong. Just opening the box and admiring the tamiya box art, am sure all you guys know that moment. I was always going to go overboard on spec as I just wanted to give it the best of what is available today as it is my favourite tamiya. Spec List: Custom all aluminium parts anodised black including items like the motor plates, shocks, all aluminium spacers, chassis posts and more. Hex head hardware, black nyloc nuts including flanged ones, black washers. Rubber sealed bearing kit, original had this. TRF Carbide diff balls, yeah racing carbide thrust balls. Tamiya Low friction 5mm adjuster rod ends. Tamiya TGX carbon propshaft. Lunsford Racing titanium turnbuckles all round. Robinson Racing steel pinions, 18t at the moment. Tekin RSgen2/8.5t sensored brushless combo. Xpert Rc Lee Martin servo. Core RC lipo. TLR white grease, black grease and shock oil, tamiya ceramic grease on gearbox gears. When the box turned up and some hop ups, didn't use the Tamiya titanium turnbuckles in the end.
  12. They do look great anodised tbh, gold will look well. I was going to wait till my bodyshell is done and post a pic on here, I could post a few pics on here or do a little build thread etc, being new on here not sure what would be appropriate and if people want to see it
  13. No problem Max, correct all the aluminium parts are anodised black. The egress is one of my personal favourites and tbh i just went a bit overboard on it
  14. Hi Max, they are anodised same as the other parts on the chassis. I also used hex hardware and black nuts including the flanged ones plus washers for attention to detail and to further darken the chassis. Installed electrics today, tekin rs gen2/8.5t combo, xpert rc low profile lee martin servo, futaba rx. Have ordered a core rc lipo for it. Made up a lead for the servo as its a very short lead, shortened the esc lead and all in black braid
  15. Will be running a brushless setup as well, tekin rs gen2 with 8.5t motor.
