kontemax 1723 Posted November 26, 2014 Hi mates, recently we wrote on the "General Discussion" section about the frailty of Tamiya transmission.I answered with a joke as you can see:http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=74877I slept over that silly idea this night and this morning i though "why not?".I know a guy that has a very little factory that produces mechanic parts and components. He made the wheel hubs of my single speed mountain bike and he works great.I asked him about some mechanical parts for r/c cars and he was interested.I could draw the parts, as we did for the bike hubs, and he could realize them. This means that he can do almost what we need, gears included.Obviously the prices for these parts will be not Hong Kong prices because these parts are made in little numbers but if we are more people interested in some particular parts and he must produce more than one piece the price could go down. So, my idea is: let's make a list here of parts we need, than, if there's a decent number I'll contact him.I'm speaking about some well known fragile parts like for example Astute A1 or Astute D1 or Thunder Shot A5 and so on. Or maybe some hop up that everybody wants and nobody produces, like Wild Dagger ball differential or TXT steel axle bevel gears, or Hot Shot One Way or something that is getting rare like Monster Beetle/Frog ball differential for example. What do you think about? Is this a good idea or a silly idea?If you are interested you can add your wanted part or add how many pieces you want of an already listed part.I can start the list and then I can update it. If we rise a good number I can contact him and listen what he can do. berman 5315 Posted November 26, 2014 Planetary diff for kingcab/astute or billet housings for factory ball diff or bolt through type instead of spring washer. For other people, I am fine :EDIT: Actually, a stronger diff for Marui (Big Bear in particular) would be popular!
Grastens 2795 Posted November 26, 2014 Striker ball differential? Applicable to Grasshopper, etc.! The biggest advantage I can see here to this venture is probably the ability to produce gears, so I see this becoming quite popular if we have enough demand for ball differentials and the like. I missed out on the .50-Calibre Customs O.R.V. rear arms, and would love to see a new improved rear trailing arm set for that chassis personally.
IBIFTKH 1369 Posted November 26, 2014 Gears for vintage Sand Rover and Holiday Buggy would probably be quite popular, even better if the design could be modified to incorporate bearings.

kontemax 1723 Posted November 27, 2014 I updated the list. C'mon people, write what you really want and not what you would like and in your opinion what other people would like. Write the item you will pay for, the item you really need, you strongly need. This is the item that we will try to create. No space here for dreams, opinions, wishes, suggestions and so on. What do you want? Write it here, just a line. Thanks Max
redzone 212 Posted November 27, 2014 Copy of the TA02 genuine tamiya hop up C hubs, they reduce the caster but none of the aftermarket ones do. It makes a huge difference to the amount of front grip and genuine ones pull silly money.
kontemax 1723 Posted November 27, 2014 Increase or reduce? I remember they add one or two degrees of caster angle. redzone 212 Posted November 27, 2014 Definitely reduce Max! By about 4 degrees. The 12 degree kick up of the suspension arms from the manta ray front gearbox didn't work too well onroad.

njmlondon 570 Posted November 27, 2014 Interesting thread... 2 questions... would your contact manufacture custom wheels? and what sort of numbers do you need to make it commercial... 5? 10? 20? 50? 100? I have a couple of ideas... 1st would be a re-worked motor plate for the original Wild Willy M38 / Wheeler / Audi / Original Lancia 037 which would allow you to use modern motors. Finding good condition 1980's motors is getting harder and harder. 2ndly would be accurate alloy wheels for the re-re Lancia 037... not proper-vintage but if there is a car that is crying out for better wheels than the awful chrome ones that come as standard, IMHO it is the Lancia. Finally the suspension arms for the 959 / Celica that always break!

kontemax 1723 Posted November 27, 2014 Yes you are right! I didn't think about the angled front arms. Do you think that on rally set up is better use these Cs? Or is better the Manta Ray set up? Max Definitely reduce Max! By about 4 degrees. The 12 degree kick up of the suspension arms from the manta ray front gearbox didn't work too well onroad. kontemax 1723 Posted November 27, 2014 I believe that 10 could be a good starting point. Obviously more the parts less the price. Under 10 pieces I will not contact the machinist because is a non sense.
