Clods at the the Intl Monster Truck Museum & Hall of Fame!

Recommended Posts

I just knew the boys at the International Monster Truck Museum & Hall of Fame now have exhibition RC races with Clod Buster based classic Monster truck replicas. In the picture below you can see a replica of the 1987 Bigfoot, plus Rocket and Boss trucks from 1985 and 1986.

With some extra time and money I know I would love to make a replica of these old beasts.

I'm making a 95 Dodge Ram Bearfoot with decals from ******* (and the Parma 95 Ram body) and I have Carolina Crusher decals that I plan to do up to try to get a friend into a clod..

Here's some video. You can see the scale version of the real old-school monster trucks there, although there are many of the usual fugly RC monster trucks that look like no real vehicles, sadly.

Some awesome photos:

This fantastic USA-1 captures the era when Everett Jasmer changed its color from blue to its classic white. I don't think many people knows that Jasmer only changed the color of the truck to white to meet a requirement of the Playskool toy company!

Here's one of the oldest versions of King Krunch:

Rob Fuchs' First Blood and the AM/PM Rocket:

Master of Disaster and the dual-wheeled Krimson Krusher:

This Bigfoot doesn't look too good, but the pulling sled behind it is just awesome!

Forgot to say, if anybody has the luck to go to the Museum in Auburn, IN, there's also lots of things to see. Jeff Dane has recently reproduced the original King Kong and it's now on exhibition there!

There's a lot of Clods in that video!

The thing is simple. The Clod Buster might as well be THE most successful Tamiya "suitable for RC" kit EVER!

It's been how long since the Clod's been out and stomping like no other RC truck in the market... like 27 years non-stop and counting???

Makes me wonder how many products in any market out there have been half as successful as this old dog.

I just tip my hat to Tamiya for releasing this fantastic piece of a kit!

This is a brilliant thread mongoose. Thanks for putting up the vid and the pics. I think we'd have to be really creative to get a truck to stick out in that crowd. Sounds like a good challenge :) .

The USA truck looks amazing! I love how the king kong truck opens, its like a transformer, but obviously better.

Sweet thread! So many cool retro monster trucks (my favourite monster trucks!) Unfortunately the links in your second post aren't working for me Erich, I sure would love to see them again!

It is awesome to see the Monster Truck Fathers taking time out to check out the replicas someone has poured their heart and soul into as a tribute to their heroes! :D

Unfortunately I can't track down the photos again, Neil. Will check later the Monster blog and the IMTM website to see if I can find the photos.

By the way I'm very happy that David Morris (worldchampion with Equalizer in 1989) is finally going to be inducted to the Hall of Fame. Three times nominated, and the man who beat all of the big names (Bigfoot, Bear Foot, Taurus, King Kong, USA-1, and others) to become the 2nd world champion will finally be in the place he deserves. Man, it's criminal he was not considered before. And the Equalizer S-10 was as revolutionary as Bigfoot VIII, you see the four-link suspension and double-coilover shocks are still used in the sport! I mean, monster trucks owe a LOT to Gary Cook and David Morris.
