  1. I am currently having a break from Tamiya. I think it is because all my vintage cars are now complete and they are just sitting on a shelf collecting dust. I get let's of enjoyment form restoring the cars but once they are complete i do lose interest in them somewhat. I am currently thinking about selling a few of them and buying some new project cars to re-ignite my interest.
  2. What are those suspension pins on the promo car?
  3. Looks great Chris. Does your paint guy also trim the body for you? That is the bit I hate. Painting is the easy bit (especially on Lexan) but trimming the body is something I would rather never do again.
  4. Hi Chris, great thread! My rc stuff has taken a back seat for a few weeks now but this thread is exactly what I needed to re-ignite the spark. You cant beat the look of shiny new plastic.
  5. I didn't want to mention this earlier in case someone on here was bidding on it but someone got a massive bargain in this auction I think. Item number 222001559336.
  6. Thanks mongoose, I am happy with the way it has turned out. Car 2 is looking pretty good too and just needs a couple of bits to finish it off.
  7. According to this http://www.tamiyaclub.com/car.asp?id=58 the length of the original is 440mm. If the rere is 410 does that hint at a different front bumper or a different body?
  8. Stickers arrived from ******* Racing (no funds for originals at the moment) and the body for car one is now complete. I went with box art and plan to put on gold wheels at some point. Car 2 will be done as per the instructions.
  9. I am looking for Part B-2 from a Hotshot if anybody has one spare. I don't really want to have to buy the whole parts tree. Thanks
  10. I'm not too sure. Over the last couple of months I think I have read everything there is to read regarding the mk1 hotshot and nowhere have I read about the unique parts being gradually phased out. Of all the NIB ones we know about they are all complete mk1 kits. That's no coincidence. I do agree however that the mk1's are maybe not as rare as some think and their value may not be much more than an original mk2 but their restoration is a much more rewarding process because of the difficulty of finding parts. I like this hobby for lots of reasons but the monetary value of any particular model is not one of them.
  11. What we need here is Wandy, Rosey, C_Smith and Crash Cramer. Collectively those guys know more than anybody about the mk1 Hotshot.
  12. Don't worry I have four original ball plates but they will wait till I get the original uprights sorted before they are fitted.
  13. Update time Yesterday was like Christmas Day all over again when a package arrived all the way from Texas USA. These are the parts from a couple of eBay auctions that Crash Cramer very kindly bid on and then forwarded the parts to me as the seller wouldn't ship to the UK. Here is what arrived: There is the all important mk1 gearbox and bumper stay as well as a rear gearbox, front and rear suspension arms, 1 good upright, 1 not so good upright, MSC and resistors and red suspension parts. All original mk1 parts. Chris also included some motor spacers and a bunch of screws. First thing to do was clean up the front gearbox. I noticed the outdrives were pretty chewed up so I swapped them for the ones that were in the rear gearbox. The rest of the gearbox was in good condition and cleaned up well. And here is it with the arms and suspension parts fitted. Now what happened next was it started snowing pretty heavily and I went sledging with my daughter. When I got back home I got on with the hotshot project(s) but forgot to take any more pictures. Anyway, one of the rear lower arms on car 1 had been repaired so I replaced with a good one that Chris sent over. Car 2 needed new front lower arms so put those on there, I also replaced a rear upper arm on car2. So that's where we are at the moment. Car 1 is just about complete and just waiting for the decals to arrive. I will also try to repair the cracked uprights and get the original mk1 parts on there. Car 2 needs decals, wing attachment and a rear upper arm then is should be good. Again, I have uprights to try to repair for this car too. The best parts have been fitted to car1 and it shows but I am stocked to have two mk1 hotshots in my possession. Big thanks to Crash Cramer, this project wouldn't be nearly as far complete as it is without his help.
  14. That looks absolutely fantastic. Well done Thomas, you should be very proud of yourself. EDIT: And thanks for sharing it with us.
