  1. Well it’s a different set up using parts 3, 6, 8 9 instead of just 10 by itself - but I wouldn’t have got there without your reply - so thanks for that…. the pic may be misleading cause I screwed a ball joint into 10 even though your not supposed to
  2. Thanks - I think that’s it - before and after pics I’ll try upload - says a max of 4.88mb and I don’t know how to compress on iphone
  3. yeah - i think your advice and noticing the manual stuff might well be the solution - i wont be at home to check till sunday - but hopefully thats it - thanks so much
  4. ok - will check all when home - thank you - i reversed the servo mounting post - but the ball didnt clear the servo - although now i have looked at a manual i see there are post options - which may be a solution if i can get one? The servo post seems very large to what i am using?
  5. Hi all - I am not a regular contributer - but was hoping someone might be kind enough to give me some help. I have this manta ray/top force thing with various hop-ups and changes - and I was hoping to get it running for my son. there is a previous post that is slightly different. I have basically got it all working, except the steering servo doesn't align with the steering linkage - I will post a pic later - but essentially the transverse line across the chassis the servo sits fwd of the place where it links in. It all seems kind of wrong as there is lots of twist when the steering activates - thus the servo attachment (sorry dont know whats its called) works itself off - only it cant cause its screwed - so it develops a crack. essentially the track doesn what I've shown in the picture and angles from front to back Any pics or advice on how this should be done would be appreciated thank you
  6. just found it hard cause the battery wire was kinda funny.... had a strange flakey material like property to it... and now the connections are exposed also... seems strange to me
  7. Hi guys was hoping you could help me with a tamiya/radio issue.... Several years ago I made a TA-01 sort of thing out of a manta ray chassis with a Subaru body on it. I stuck in an EZRUN brushless and it was wicked fast..... unfortunately the wheelbase, track and bodyshell made it quick hard to control, and if it clipped a small stone - it went flying.... SO..... i bought a manta ray/top force love child thingy to try and swap the running gear and get more stability and driveability....... Fast FWD MANY YEARS..... i dug them out of the attic to try and get it working for my son - who wasn't here previously - shows how many years its been..... I needed to get some new plugs so i got XT60 plugs and set about soldering them onto the battery, charger and speed controller - wish i never bothered - i should have stuck with tamiya connectors..... Anyway - all the gubbins is swapped over and the buggy looked like it might run - 1 issue is it really juddery - i think this may be cause my battery is not had a full charge yet - so will wait and see... ANY THOUGHTS.... BUT NOW.... my kid wants the Subaru up and running so I would like, if possible to get a transmitter, speed controller, battery and charger AS CHEAP AS POSS..... ( the car has a motor and steering servo already) where do i go and what do i buy......??? Anything i own (ACOMS or FUTABA) seems to now be "vintage and cost a fortune.... Any help appreciated thanks
  8. Hi guys Not been around in a while - hope everyone is doing great.... A couple years ago I took a stock vintage manta ray and turned it into a saloon car sort of thing, with a Subaru body and a brushless motor... Thing is with the body running to close to the ground and the track and wheel base reduced it didn’t handle so great.... No I would like to turn it back into a buggy.... Has anyone got some links and pointers for bits? I want to base it on the same chassis, i.e. a top force / manta ray kinda thing... I am looking for the full kit, alloy arms, drive shafts, carbon chassis parts etc etc etc etc - THE WHOLE LOT..... Apart from fleabay I am a bit lost as to where to start, erg. I cannot find a DF-01 yeah racing upgrade anywhere - I am not sure what parts are interchangeable etc etc etc... Any help / advice / comments are all greatly appreciated..... I don’t mind if something costs a few squid, but this is just a wee bit of fun to have a basher to knock around for fun, thanks so so much
  9. Can anyone post close up pics of there suspension on a TA01.... Cheers
  10. Mark, any suggestions for a more modern flexible chassis, that would be similar to my TA01 in the sense it could handle kerbs, and mild off-road, but perhaps is newer and has more upgradable availability
  11. Here are the pics you requested, open to criticism and comment, please don’t be too harsh, was done only as a bit o fun, on a tight budget.....
  12. It’s a total mixed bag... I have an alloy motor mount, as well as an all nylon gearbox, i.e. no alloy idle gears... and a steel pinion... The problem is this was my first project, and I have used incorrect suspension arms, I think they are TT01 or TL01, and they came with spacers, which made them a perfect fit, and gave me a perfect wheel base for the body I had... Please also note that the model started life as a DF01 manta ray, not a TA01.... The front suspension is bolted on with a screw that travels through a hollow piece that in balled at one end the create movement, and also has a spacer to try and take the suspension away from the front upright.... As I said the problem is defo the angle, cause even if the springs were straight, the lower arm and upper turnbuckle would still be at an angle thus when the wheel travelled up due to a bump, then it does not move completely vertically, it moves at a slight angle.... The reason I find this a problem is because when travelling at high speed the suspension is too stiff to even work, if it hits a stone or whatever, it just bounces the whole car.... and I do have the softest springs on just now.... When it was a DF01 this didn’t happen because the suspension travel was so much greater and the buggy wheels were so much bigger...
