  1. I have a TLU-02 and all I would say it excels at is the strobing / flashing function, so much brighter / faster than other aftermarket options. But there are much better options out there; the TLU-02 is very old really. There are no tell-tale signs on the ribbon cable, all wires are black and there are no identifying markers on the ports either. I imagine it's a bit more complicated than bridging / shorting certain connections to switch things on and off.
  2. What are those front tyres @Superluminal? Looks really smart. They look good for car park bashing! Tired (tyred?!) of wearing through studded tyres after just a couple of packs after a car park blast.
  3. Lovely @wtcc5! That bodyshell is so sleek it's a wonder that it even fits on a TA-03. There can't be much clearance above the belt?
  4. Not had any time for R/C in ages, but today I put down a 50% deposit on my XM-01 pre-order and this week I got some good news... We will be getting a garden office put in. Naturally, I'm already considering the best layout to make it both a home office and R/C workshop! Considering which angles the webcam will point in as to where I could arrange my R/C collection and workbench so it's out of view on those virtual meetings
  5. 10-12 minute for a 1300 NiCd is pretty normal. At max, 20 minutes in the summertime but Tamiya NiCd batteries are old technology now, this is about the runtime I used to get with them back in the day. Modern servos pull a lot more amps than old analogue ones too. Time to invest in a new battery / charger setup.
  6. True story that I should not have sold this
  7. Ah yes, it's also made of plastic and is a bit fragile!
  8. Very nice! Moaaar JGTC Legends please! I really want a Takata Dome NSX, but the later metallic green one with gold rims. Seem pretty hard to obtain now - where are you sourcing your purchases? Perhaps I shouldn't ask actually
  9. I assume you have seen RC Racing Legends latest product drop?! I look forward to seeing an update soon
  10. A gentler approach (appreciate you say you've already made contact previously) would be better here. We are a relatively small community and the admins aren't on here 24/7 to monitor individual threads to the same stringent policies you might see on other forums. I get that the thread in question is like an Instagram Photo Reel but does it really do much damage if there are captions to accompany images? We have relatively few frequently-contributing members as it is, we don't want to drive some away with such autocracy. If conversation breaks out then fair enough; but otherwise I don't understand the controversy.
  11. Good lad. I barely get the time to commit to this hobby of late, so I'm glad to be living vicariously through others using my manipulative skills Honestly; I have 3x 911 GT2s unpainted because I'm procrastinating about what schemes I want to have. I also have about 5 options in decals, and the paint. I'm a hoarder, not a doer!
  12. Yeah, Tamiya are a bit of a cult amongst the hobby and most of our members recognise and embrace that. If you're actually more interested in thrashing something which is radio controlled, doing stunts, jumps etc and speed runs, Tamiya isn't really a good return on investment. For me they are good looking model cars which happen to be radio controlled, rather than prioritising RC. Form over function if you will. I also love to tinker / modify and I think Tamiya offer that in spades, both genuine "Hop Ups" and aftermarket. I have dabbled in modern RC stuff (which is mostly RTR - another yucky turn-off) and I've eventually sold them on, despite their obvious performance advantages. A lot of those "basher brands" don't have the longevity that Tamiya offers either, because they're geared at the short-term interested parties, rather than the long-term enthusiast. They definitely have their place and I would never trash them as they have their merits, but for me they're more "toy" than hobby. And it's perfectly OK to have such a Toy on the shelf for when you just want to play outside.
  13. Took me a while to find this thread but I got there in the end. @alvinlwh there is a possible further solution for your consideration - Xtra Speed have released a trio of stainless steel hinges pin screws for Tamiya cars with hex-heads: RCMart currently list 22, 32 and 46mm pins sold in packs of 5. Decent price, perhaps still flawed as I'm sure they'll eventually back-out like the steel Tamiya ones, but at least they shouldn't rust!
  14. A small but reasonably expensive parcel for me today - Battery posts in blue () for the M-06 - 4x 33T Steel Idler Gear for the TD2, BB-01 and XV-01 - XV-02 Aluminium Steering Arms for my pre-ordered XM-01 Pro
  15. Very cool, I like your take on it. I have just finished amassing parts to build another FAV / Wild One hybrid. I'm not sure what colour scheme to go with, so I've bought both red and silver / grey rollcage parts. It will sit in a box whilst I procrastinate for another 6 months I imagine!
