Vintage Boomerang Restore

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I picked this little lot up last week and will be restoring the Boomerang to a vintage runner over the next few weeks - thought I would share...

I got it in the post on Friday and spent the weekend stripping cleaning in my new ultrasonic cleaner - awesome for getting the gunk off!

Good luck, I restored one recently and really enjoyed it. I had intentions of making it a runner but decided its far to pretty to run :D

If you throw out a boomerang I believe it comes back ;)

From start to finish looks like you're doing a fab job! And its looking great! I'm hoping to get my one I picked up on eBay for my winter restoration but the guy I got it off has used an cheap courier and at the moment its touring the UK so hopefully it should arrive before Xmas! I just love a mint looking boomerang and hopefully I can get mine to look like yours!

Cheers! I did try to save the original body but it just looked too tatty compared to the rest of it. I did intend to make this a runner but I think it's destined for the shelf now. Good luck with yours when it turns up - let me know what you need to complete it as I have accumulated a heap of spares, re re and original.

Yeah thanks I will do although it looks in good condition in the photo's just dirty and he said nothing is broken on it so let's hope! Also in the photo's when I blown them up it looks like he's put the stickers on but hasn't taken the over spray film off but again he did say he was no rc buff and if he's done that I kinda believe him!!!. Can we see your finished boomerang in the showroom?

If I figure out how!

If I remember correctly and someone on here will know for sure, there was no overspray film on the original bodies from the 80's so you might be in luck. I have a full set of stickers (re re) that I bought before the originals came my way if you're in need of some. I've cut them all out but they're all there...

Thanks that would be great! Bit of luck I won't need any but its good to know! It's really straight forward to put something on the showroom easier than the forum just select "add model" and follow the page!
