Tamiya given up racing?

Recommended Posts

Looking at a recent magazine I notice there were no Tamiyas in the 1/10 off road BRCA events. Is this a UK thing or global? Lee Martin has moved to Yokomo also.

From what I know, TRF should be still doing strong onroad.

Why do you say that? Didn't Tamiya just release a new TRF buggy?

Dorvack.

Perhaps, but if there's any truth at all to the report that they'e given up on off-road to focus their efforts on on-road, then it's not unreasonable to assume they're going to start producing less race-spec off-road race buggies.

Story about Lee Martin from December 2013:

Since then we've seen a new TRF201, a new TRF503, and a DB01RRR come out. There are plenty of race-grade buggies available from Tamiya. It seems like they reduced their funding for team drivers just like Team Durango did. That doesn't mean they've stopped making new kits. I'm sure the 201, 502, 503, and DB01 platforms will continue to receive updates as other companies' race buggies evolve.
