Gruntfuggly started following How much!?, Can you resist this price?, How the **** would you get into these buggies!? and and 7 others

I look at that picture and what sticks out like a sore thumb is that Tamiya battery connector. How have Tamiya never come up with a better design? Maybe it's like a trademark these days

How the **** would you get into these buggies!?
Gruntfuggly replied to Kol__'s topic in General discussions
lol - even if you could get into a TopForce, you couldn't drive it because you wouldn't be able to see past the front shock tower! -
What do you regret selling? What would you Never sell?
Gruntfuggly replied to Jason1145's topic in General discussions
M03 that I had converted to rallycross, Optima Pro, RC10, Tomy Intruder (yes seriously). I also regret selling a 1/8 Lancia Delta shell. In fact I miss most of the cars I've sold over the years! Can't afford to keep them all though. -
Just realised I've missed my TamiyaClub 21st birthday! Doesn't feel that long ago...

Dead LiPo's - recommend replacements?
Gruntfuggly replied to Gruntfuggly's topic in General discussions
They're in hard cases, but there is no sign of swelling. Thanks, I'll try swapping the cables. -
Hi all - long time no post. Started digging out the RC gear from the shed today and thought I'd get it up and running again. My two old Turnigy LiPo packs don't seem to want to charge. Can anybody recommend replacements? I'm not sure if the old ones are actually dead - the monitor seems to think they are OK, but I think the charging cables (JST?) have got corrosion in the plugs or something. Is it worth replacing the charging cables? The old packs are 135x45x20 mm which means they fit the Blitzer chassis tub perfectly, but I can't seem to find any that are less than 25mm thick.

Amazing rumour about a genuine Conrad 240826!

lol - this thread will never die! In all seriousness - take note of that orange arrow. Get it wrong and it will take your arm off. -
Ford Racing Puma on an M03.

You'll probably want to add some protection for the battery - the TL01B is a nice simple chassis, but it really exposes the battery. If you run on sand, you'll sand blast it quite badly. If you google, you'll find a few solutions, but mostly it will be fitting some kind of plate or protector underneath. The other thing to watch out for with the TL01B (or any Tl01/M01 type chassis) is that hard knocks will crack the suspension mounts - and because they're molded into the chassis, you end up having to totally strip it down and replace the chassis halves. Previously I've used braces made out of carbon fibre, but I can't remember where I got them from. As the guys said above, waterproof as much as you can and be prepared for a good clean afterwards. I run with bearings on the beach (rather than plastic), but expect to have to bin them after a while - dog bones wear out quickly too. Beach running is great fun (my favourite), but expect it to be hard on your kit!

You could search for a repro Dyna Blaster body too - it's the same. May not help you though...

lol - I'm sure you will fit it to something Kev

Thought this was a bit expensive: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/353733573133?hash=item525c29fa0d:g:EeMAAOSwYhNhcAV~ Until I looked a bit more carefully...

Really sad news. Truly a club legend.

Great work - always wanted to do one of these too. I'll never forget the first time I saw the Bowler on Top Gear - awesome stuff. "I am a driving god!"

Tamiya plugs also corrode badly when not used for a while - one of the pins will go green. My replacement plug of choice is PowerPoles - they're a bit chunky but the big plus is you can fit them without soldering. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anderson_Powerpole
