Some experiments...

Using a fat drinking straw for the snorkel and a lexan sheet for the metal support tracks?

I can punch holes easily with a hole puncher lol!

Very cool!

I was lucky enough to drive a camel trophy discovery when my folks bought a new Dicso a few years ago.

That's just the rough version right! You're gonna tidy it up and do a more detailed version when you're done playing around............. Holy moley that's some fantastic work, I think I'd need some serious drugs to give me the patience and concentration to get that much detail done.... Nice can't wait to see the finished product.

I just love the Camel Trophy Defenders. You are doing a fantastic job of it.

One word of caution though. I saw a similar project on Scale 4x4 forums end in tears. After all the work the builder took it for a test run and flipped it. They are very top heavy, even with plastic rather than metal rollbars. His carefully crafted roofrack shattered and he had to start again with brass soldered together.

I cannot find the exact post. I did remember this one however which should be inspirational.

Yes, I would be very careful, I also am prepared to roll man....

I've gotten brass materials for a full metal roof rack... the plastic is just my first time with styrene

As well, will make a duplicate one out of brass....

I think they look good at 5mm. Looking at photos of fullsize ones, the bars look to be about the same thickness as the window frame portions of the front doors. 5mm captures this nicely on the model. 3mm would look too thin IMHO.

Awesome work. The detail on the roof rack is incredible. I'd love to see more detail of the body modifications too.

Definitely a thread to watch!
