Or maybe they found out that many potentional customers are moaning about the somewhat exaggerated pricing, and now they try clever marketing by emphasizing the rarity of the kit to attract the greedy profiteers.

Agree with you on this, i'd even say it is costing waaay more for hardly nothing. For me it is a lazy 40th anniversary version, they could have done a lot more than this. Dissapointing...

1988 JMRCA Avante in competition
scoobybooster replied to Marchie's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
I was thinking of these when i first read "Coyote", but not in conjunction with TAG. However, i did not expect these to be so competitive. I remember these were very lightweight but extremely fragile back then. -
Very nice ! I like the wheels very much, never was a fan of the chromed originals.

What is a TAG Coyote? never heard (or seen) -
Believe it or not but applying decals is my most loving part of a build. it's like the cherry top of a cake for me.. But that's just me. I understand your pain because decaling is sometimes really challenging if you want to have a perfect finish.

Kyosho Rocky re-re will it happen ?
scoobybooster replied to madmickmalone's topic in Re-Release Discussions
I doubt that a Rere of the Rocky will happen. As mentioned at the beginning, the Rocky was a one-chassis car, and the fan base is probably not nearly as big as that of the Optima boys. -
What is the most ridiculous Tamiya kit?
scoobybooster replied to Siclick33's topic in General discussions
Perhaps ridiculous is not the correct term here, but I always had (and still have) the greatest difficulty with this candidate. Tamiya , how could you... -

RC10 Crystal to be displayed at SEMA Las Vegas
scoobybooster replied to Raman36's topic in Re-Release Discussions
I can imagine that the effort for the Classic was relatively large for AE and the success rather lagged behind the expectations. Presumably, molds and tools are still in the drawer and the effort is kept within relatively risk-free limits for AE to postpone the Crystal to gloss over the expense side for the Classic from back then. I bet it sells like hot cakes, no matter whether it's meant for driving or just to put on the shelf. -
Sand Scorcher - Front suspension issue
scoobybooster replied to Yoshisaur's topic in Re-Release Discussions
By the way, you have mounted the shock absorbers upside down. I doubt this should be a problem though... -
I also like the Jugg1 very much, the story behind it with the car being one of the biggest mishaps in the history of the company. This all make it very special to me. I also have a new built Jugg1 , one of the very first ( it was a former expedition car for Tamiya distributors when released). I also have the original conversion kit that was handed out to dealers after the recall. This is very rare to find in unopened condition.

What’s your rule on purchasing a new kit?
scoobybooster replied to Sogogi's topic in General discussions
My rules are rather simple: 1. consider whether and how many of them I need 2. check whether I can afford it. 3. Go ahead and buy I must admit, however, that point 1 and point 3 are often used in reverse order as well.
