davidwj95 152 Posted March 23, 2015 Hi I've done a few modifications to my high lift Hilux over the last few weeks. I have been considering fitting some RC4WD soft red leaf springs but would like to hear opinions from anyone else who has fitted them before I buy some. I'm particularly interested to know how durable they are and if they make the vehicle sit much lower than standard springs. Thanks David
adam1973 1 Posted March 24, 2015 They would be too soft for the weight of a HL
emory70 153 Posted March 31, 2015 They don't stand up to rigorous abuse in trail stompers.
davidwj95 152 Posted March 31, 2015 Thanks for the replies, I'll keep the stock springs on.
Pintopower 1456 Posted April 11, 2015 Hey Folks, I bought these a few weeks after I got my hilift in '07. I flat out love them. I use and abuse my truck and it also has the light and sound kit installed, that makes it rather husky. For me, they completely changed the truck for the best. Articulation increases by just under 25mm. I recently added the jun fac setup and honestly wish I would have left it alone. Unless something has changed with the new red leafs, I cannot recommend them highly enough. I think they are fabulous and incredibly durable.
Pintopower 1456 Posted April 11, 2015 Sorry, should have mentioned that the ride height did not change considerably. I can show you LOTS of shots of my truck in action. I must say that the terrain I was driving on with the stock leafs was far too aggressive for them. With the soft rc4wds, it was amazing.
davidwj95 152 Posted April 12, 2015 Thanks for the reply, do you have any links to pics or vids that I could see? My main concern is losing ground clearance under the gearbox.
