ddaenen1 278 Posted October 6, 2013 I am unsure i ever posted pics of this 1 on TC. I bought a TA04-S for a few bucks some years ago. It was the Calsonic Skyline GT-R version. I wanted to restore it to its original glory but got a little carried away and installed all possible hopups i could get my hands on. The only one i am missing is the front universal shafts which are currently in the mail on their way to me. It has a 9.5T Graupner brushless motor with a Turnigy 60A ESC which makes it almost fly low and is packed with a Savox SC1257TG. All in all, it drives great. In the end, i didn't find the original body so i decided to give it a more modern look. Here the pictures: The Body took me almost a month to complete. 2 tone spraying and more decals than any other body i had ever done but very happy with the result. Afterwards built in a led-kit to make it complete.

ddaenen1 278 Posted January 11, 2015 Well, my TA04 is a neverending piece of work. Once in a while i bump into something to add to it. This time, it was this. They seem very rare and hard to get so when i saw these on fleabay, the button was hit instantly. And from this: we get this: and i still continue to look for parts which will require patience. The alu 32T pulleys are still on the top of my list together with the center 18T alu puley and original blue alu servo stays.

I want to do one on a buggy body one day like some of the old '90's race buggies had The flag was part of the original decal set for this body which is a perfect replica of the exisiting car: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sumo_Power#mediaviewer/File:Sumo_Power_Nissan_23.jpg
nickf 0 Posted January 21, 2015 Do you run Lipo's? Due to the belt running under the top deck you need a very low profile Lipo. Which lipo's fit? Nick F
ddaenen1 278 Posted January 21, 2015 Do you run Lipo's? Due to the belt running under the top deck you need a very low profile Lipo. Which lipo's fit? Nick F Yes, i run 7.4v 2S Lipo stickpacks. The one that fits perfectly is this: http://www.localhobbyshop.nl/python-plus-lipo-7-4v-4000mah-50c-hardcase.html I haven't found them on any english language site but there is a thread here that discusses lipo packs that fit: http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=71132&hl=%2Btamiya+%2Blipo Hope this helps, Dominique
volvotech 101 Posted January 26, 2015 Beautiful car. I just picked up my first ta04s myself. I already have a few items for it on the way thanks to eBay, to my surprise I think ta04 hop ups are more scarce than ta03 hop ups.

I don't know where you are based, but Seidel and Tamico still carry several hopups. Just depends on what you are looking for. Some i found quite easily, some i am still searching for
volvotech 101 Posted January 27, 2015 I'm in the states. Thanks for the leads! A quick search on tamico yields similar results to what I've already found. I'd really love to get my hands on a lower deck carbon chassis.
volvotech 101 Posted January 27, 2015 And it looks like Seidel has one, but do they ship internationally?

I'd really love to get my hands on a lower deck carbon chassis. I don't have a lower deck anymore, i do have 1 or 2 carbon upper decks (1 x #53465 / 1 x #58261) in my stash. I might have more but i would need to go through the boxes. Will let you know. When you want to buy a lower deck, make sure you get your hands on the J-parts (50871) first. Without those, you won't have much use for your carbon lower deck. You might want to have a look at http://www.rcmart.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=ta04&x=0&y=0 They also carry some hopups. volvotech 101 Posted January 27, 2015 Thanks for the great advice ddaenen1, I really appreciate it. I do have plans to get a few parts from rc mart and I have a friend in Germany getting me that lower deck. The need for the J parts was news to me (can't say I've done any significant research on this chassis, it's all been on a whim), there's a pricey option for that parts tree on eBay in the UK as a last resort, but I'll be keeping my eyes open for that part. And once again I find myself asking "what am I getting myself into?"

If you want to go for a conversion similar to mine, you will need the J-parts. They are essential. What you got yourself into? The TA-04 is a great chassis, both to drive and to work on. It will give you alot of joy.
svenb 3735 Posted January 27, 2015 When you say alu servo stays, do you mean 49092 or 49192? sven

It will give you alot of joy. Correct. The carbon lower deck has been purchased and is on its way to the states. Luckily I'm in no rush collecting parts for this build/restoration, so now begins the hunt for the J parts. Have you added the lightweight reversible suspension set to your ta04? I found the early tb02/ta04 set online for a very reasonable price. The inclusion of universals with it makes it a very tempting purchase.

I've been looking for the spring retainers for the 49198 TRF damper i have on my TL01 and have only found the later 1mm down type, which i bought but the blue is slightly lighter than the damper bodies, not by much but enough. Are the 49308 you've got darker than your dampers? yours look like later type with the alloy adjuster ring. A bit of an odd question but..... ps. i have 49092 and they are a lighter blue too, seems tamiya likes to change the shade just to p*** me off sven
volvotech 101 Posted January 28, 2015 I have 49092 on my ta03f pro and they are a very light blue. A shade significantly lighter than any other blue component on any of my cars.
svenb 3735 Posted January 28, 2015 Good! i'm not the only one. put them in my M04 so you can't see them to much! sven
