Scratch Built RC Holden HX Overlander Panel Van

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Started this build earlier this year, still a work in progress...lol! The body is a scratch built (using styrene) Holden HX Overlander Panel Van. The chassis is a somewhat modified TF2 chassis.

Now that's impressive !! . I used to have HX panel van & know how hard that would be to build 1/10 , with all the detail that's involved .

Would like bigger pic's & more of them of the build :D ..

This is going to look Fantastic & can't wait too see this coming along .

I had to mod the TF2 chassis kinda...swapped out the Yota axles for SDIs, because the diff casing on the Yotas were too big causing it to hit the oil pan...much better with these SDIs, however to mount them I had to make my own U-Bolts and shock mounts...

Thanks for sharing ! My first car was a HJ Panel Van (Kermit Green) so I'm well impressed with this. Great attention to detail, even those inside panels and turret frame are so accurate. Can't wait to see this with paint and interior!

Hey thanks Thommo! That is indeed a compliment! Not only because it's coming from an Aussie, but as I have been building from pics found on the internet! I did have a Kingswood SL 4door sedan some 15 years ago, but have never seen a panel van in person....lol!

Holy Snap..... You're in Queens NY ! What a surprise. I'm having trouble joining the dots now. You're in the USA, You've never actually seen a Holden Panel Van but you did have a Holden Kingswood. Did you live in Australia previously ?

Haha! No....I'm from the island of Trinidad in the Caribbean. An ex- English colony, so we use RHD vehicles there...one of the very few countries some of the Holden were exported to...lol.

We had the HQ sedan...called a Belmont, I remember seeing a few HKs as well, we had the HJ -HZ kingswood , I have seen a couple of HQ monaros as well as an HX Monaro there as well. We never had the Utes or the Panelvans.

We also got some of the VC/VB commodores....

Ahhhh ! That's all making sense now.

And on a completely different subject (but because you herald from the lovely West Indies), I had the great privilege of watching Brian Lara bat in a legends 20/20 match in Perth yesterday. He has still got it !
