Stock & Pullers Toy Tractor collection

Recommended Posts

Months ago I happened to come across a fantastic 1983 battery-powered Playskool Bigfoot truck. Since then I kind of developed some interest in non-RC vehicles, particularly related to motorsports like Monster trucks and Truck & Tractor pulling. And of course I'm also a big fan of stock tractors. ;)

Well, here's the tractors I've collected this year. These vehicles are mostly made by Matchbox (as a matter of fact, only the John Deere tractor isn't a Matchbox vehicle), and they're of a bigger scale than the regular cars. I'm chuffed with these small vehicles, and I also want to thank the TCers who have helped me locate some of these in other countries. :)

And here's some sweet Mod tractor pullers...

This is the four-engined all-blown "Checkmate" mod tractor:

The Allison-powered "12-pac" Mod tractor:

And this is one of my favorites, the Jet turbine-powered Mod tractor, "Drag-On". I believe the inspiration for this one must have been the "Dragon Lady" puller which was Art Artfons' daughter's. Like the legendary "Green Monster", it's a Jet turbine-powered puller.

Tractor is not my thing, but be careful starting another collection. About 5 years ago I got into 1:43 diecaste for Martini Racing, Advan, Jergermiester and Nissan/Datsun LaMan Racing series plus whatever caught my fancy. Now got to many with many I still want but cannot due to space.

In the end is what you like.

Crash Cramer helped me with this old, beat up 1985 Matchbox "Hot Stuff" Dragster tractor I found for sale in FL earlier on this year. The chrome of the engines was gone, and it was pretty dirty and abused. Well, last night I spent a little less than one hour trying some magic and now I'm chuffed with the results

When found:

I'm only missing two of these to complete the line. These models are FANTASTIC. Hopefully I'll be able to find the other two... maybe next year?

You all have a good weekend! :)

Didn't realise there was such a range!

I only knew about orange blossom SST and pull sled,(which I have put in such a safe place,I haven't found it!).

Pullers have changed over the years, like every thing else.

This is Snoopy,I loved this tractor,as a kid,it was the name really.

This is Snoopy 4 taken at the end of Aug this year.

In the late 80's tractor pulling grabbed the interest of different peoples because of the monster truck craze. It's a bit ironic that Monster trucks were sort of an exhibition run sideshows in pulling competitions, and within a few years monster trucks became the headline of those shows. In the end, people who've never seen a tractor plowing became interested in pulling. And 2wd and 4x4 pullers also became very popular. But, as it happened with many other nice stuff from our teenage days, the 90's sort of finished it. No more huge legendary arenas for pulling, although there are still large venues where the traditional big shows are held.

Now let me show you one FANTASTIC book I got (again with the help of my good friend Crash Cramer). It's a 100-page book with the history of tractor pulling. The book offers a general perspective on the sport, but it is very very good. And the writing is so good it even sparked other ideas when reading it!

Have a look at this photo. That's the legendary Dave Banter!!

There's some pictures and great stories on Art Arfons and his daughter Dusty, too! Remember the Green Monster and the Dragon Lady?

And the golden rivalry between Tim Engler's Mission Impossible and The Banter Bros' Fox!

And some newer ones...

The book also shows some 2wd and 4wd action, but it is mainly focused on Mod Tractors (the Dragster tractor kind) and Super Stocks. Highly recommended!

You all have a good weekend! :)
