  1. Looking for opinions on what to do with a original (vintage) Frog frame, still on the trees. This frame has turned brown in spots. I'm wanting to rebuild my vintage Frog, which will be on a shelf 99% of the time. I thought about painting the frame, but not sure how long the paint will stay. I found a company that chromes plastic model parts, and I'm considering this route. Any other ideas?
  2. Just purchased a set of Imex wheels for a original Blackfoot (Imex 8515+8516). Trying for a Marui Big Bear style look for this Blackfoot. To use these wheels, do I have any options other than finding a set of vintage Jumbo Dawg tires? I was hoping to find a "modern" tire replacement, rather than using vintage tires.
  3. Thanks for the replys so far. The whole reason for the question is b/c I am slowly rebuilding the first Frog I bought about 6-7 years ago. Always wanted one when I was younger. I bought this one on ebay, and ran it several times. Then it got stomped by a horse (long story), so I had a new re re frame that I had started modifying to match the original, but gave up on the project for several years. Now I've been getting back into R/C, and trying to finish some old projects.
  4. I read somewhere online a few years ago about minor differences between the vintage and re re Frog frame "A" parts. Now I can not find where I read this; anyone know what the differences are?
  5. Vintage body set for sale on Ebay http://www.ebay.com/...984.m1555.l2649
  6. Cool pic Badwagon, is that your Mopar? My next "hot rod R/C" might be a Charger. I told my youngest I would start on his re-re Frog also, and being a Mopar fan.........but for right now it will probably have a older Mustang body.
  7. Forgot to mention; In the very early 80's, there was a Lionel Toy Warehouse about 25miles from where we lived. I got to go there probably 5 or 6 times before it closed. On the 1st or 2nd time going there, on the model isle, was a stack ( maybe 5-7 high) of Tamiya Sand Scorchers and another R/C kit. I was very young, not even 10 yet, and didn't know it was a R/C, just thought it was a large model kit. And because I had so many plastic models kits unfinished at the time, my mom wouldn't let me have another.
  8. Still for sale, will ship in the lower 48 states (USA) for $60 total.
  9. Thanks for the comments. I was born into a "Chevrolet" family, but now I prefer Ford trucks. My oldest son and I are still into 50's-80's 2dr Chevy cars. My wife's pretty mich Chevrolet. But my youngest son is 100% Mopar, and I don't have a clue where that came from, lol
  10. Around '85, I got my first "hobby grade" R/C, a Hotshot. Built it myself, with alittle trial and error. I completely wore that car out. Then I got a Hornet, and went through about 13 frames (again, trial and error while looking for speed). While picking up a frame at a hobby shop, I ended up with a Big Bear. And after reading the Tower Hobbies catalogs for a couple years, I ordered one of the last Kyosho Datsun Stepsides they had left.
