don't worry , I was tempted to order one , ,$1450 aud kinda put me off though. I did get an email from traxxas yesterday saying that a handful of bl rigs are now ablr to use the self righting technology , need to have one of those new fan dangled receivers though

Have ordered a new receiver to fit to my E-Maxx, already have a blue tooth module

I think the self righting thing will kill the standard diffs.

Mine has 1/8 buggy diffs fitted.

Want to see if the stability bit makes it easier to drive at high speed.

Xmaxx wise i have got a couple of shocks, and a spare diff coming, found them on eBay from Jenny's Rcsports store

from online forums the only breakages seem to be shocks, and a diff.

The Tsm receiver i got for my e-maxx, was faulty.

It wouldn't bind, so have had to send it back, dealer has sent it to traxxas and i am awaiting a replacement

Wow those shocks are huge! I bet they could replace some on a 1:1 scooter!

I've never heard of or seen one of these before but just looking at the parts means it will be an absolute monster!!

the slipper clutch, main prop shaft, gears and a motor heat sink

Main truck is still atleast 2 weeks away from delivery

Update,

Traxxas have with held all euro imports after a "quality control issue"

Esc's catching fire, wheels cracking, shocks leaking and breaking probably didn't help.

So have Cancelled my preorder, and instead I will build my own from parts.

ebay chop-shops should make things easier.

Omg. That doesn't sound too good which is a shame as it looks amazing! I've built an rc from sourcing parts from here and there and it's great fun finding everything and putting it all together.

update,

got a delivery of a chassis from an eBay chop shop.

also a large delivery of parts from tower hobbies

1st pic of 1st delivery

img30018_29012016225243_1.jpg

img30018_29012016225243_2.jpg

img30018_29012016225243_3.jpg

last pic is build so far, still awaiting drive shafts and a pair of shocks.

Will be using standard traxxas radio gear, the "special servo" is on its way (it doesn't use standard mounts, it has custom mounts for the x-maxx chassis)

Have a castle xlx esc on order, want to run on 6s with option of 8s at a later date.

Stock gearing, as want to see how it performs stock before changing things.

The preordered trucks still haven't been delivered to uk customers yet

Well the trucks have finally hit the shores of Europe.

I have had some delivery of spare parts, just not the bits I need to complete the build

spare arms, shock shaft, stainless screws

Been told the trucks in the uk are in the 4000 range of chassis numbers,

my chassis is in the 300's as it's imported, nice low chassis number B)

img30018_13022016080612_4.jpg

Have used all stainless screws.

Temporarily have taken the esc out of an E-maxx, just to try the standard motor on standard gearing.

Will be wiring in the gps expander to see what speed each gear ratio gives.

Ideally I want about 45mph on 6s

I got the kershaw mount for the castle 2028

I intend to paint the body up this weekend, going to need a lot of tins

That thing is huge! Looks like it will be lots of fun. I don't think running in long grass will be a problem  . It makes the monster beetle look like its scale is about 1:20 .

Hope you do a running vid of it. B)

Yes it is big,

when I started building it, you don't realise how big its getting until you fit the wheels.

As to vids, there are a few on Utube already.

guy in the following vid knows how to jump :)

https://youtu.be/ewtoDlC8QlA

I won't be jumping mine

will run a full set of 5000mah lips tomorrow, need to check temps.

Have the big castle set up here, and will probably fit that next weekend, as I have a pair of 4s batts coming from hobby king

Ran the truck today,

2- 3s traxxas 5000mah till the cut off.

truck handle rough ground easily

couldn't get the gps unit to work so no speed readings to report

just seemed to need a bit more oomph on the straights

so

out came the standard 1600kv and in went the 2028 set up

img30018_14022016155546_3.jpg

img30018_14022016155546_4.jpg

running 32t pinion with 54 spur, so its a little faster than stock.

will order bigger pinions, as the motor has got enough torque to go larger

Took the X down to my local park today to try out the new motor combo.

On 6s it is about the same as stock,

But, on 8s the X does come alive.

The tyres just start to balloon at full speed, so I think the gearing is about right for the stock tyres.

Have had a new 49tooth pinion delivered.

Truck seems a fair bit quicker.

Still need to play with the esc parameters, punch, etc

Damage wise,

Crack in the rear of the body after a cartwheel,

Broke a front shock shaft after colliding with a fence post, it broke the shaft just as it screws in to the bottom swivel joint.

Must not have gotten the pinion grub screw tight enough as pinion has moved on the shaft, luckily I saw it before any damage.

The XLX esc has a data logging feature

I have fitted the castle 6mm battery connectors on the 4s batts (8s set up) and get very low ripple volts when running these connectors.

On my 6s set up (two 3s batts) I use traxxas connectors, I made up a small conversion lead to plug in to the castle connector.

With the traxxas connectors i am getting a ripple voltage of around 0.9 to 1 volt.

So it seems the "Traxxas high current connectors" are not up to the job of feeding the XLX esc
