Wrenching on my real car, tinkering with R/C cars and photography.
  1. Yes, I will probably keep those. But there are a few other fabricated parts I don't like that are not really visible on the picture, that look like they weren't produced with the greatest care. Many of the alum parts were actually fabricated by the previous owner. I'll decide as I go on. First taking it apart and having a look at everything.
  2. Haven't done anything with my RCs over the winter really, but just recently started tinkering again... scored this off ebay today and picked it up: Vintage Blitzer Beetle with 3 motors (stock, 17t and I think an 8t), 2 ESCs, radio, 3 sets of wheels and enough spares to build a complete second car. The built car has been a bit modified with some aluminium parts. I will rebuild it and clean it up a bit since I don't like some of the parts...
  3. Just got done restoring/repairing this, mechanically at least... will probably buy another of these bodie and finish it nicely as a shelf shell, as this one's a bit beat! My third FF01 (fourth, if you count the fact that I built this out of one I crashed and one I bought broken).. and I've got enough parts for half of another... I seem to have grown fixated on these... Now I've got another stock one kicking around which will be restored later and one that's quite hopped up with frp chassis, a few aluminium parts and such, needs a new servo and then it's ready to run as well... tho, need to source a body for that.
  4. So a few weeks ago I cracked my FF01s turnbuckle and lost a drive shaft. Couldn't find a replacement drive shaft, so started looking for chassis to part out. Stumbled upon this pretty hopped up FF01 and just had to have it... FRP chassis, ball raced, aluminium control arms, aluminium steering (included, not installed), CVAs with sport springs, adjustable camber, 17t Kyosho motor and lots more. Super stoked about this find.
  5. -additional receiver -Tamiya ceramic grease -Tamiya ball diff grease
  6. Received my FF-01 with an Opel Astra body in the mail. Stole my Lunchbox's receiver and installed it in the FF01. Did a test run on a parking lot near my house. Promptly trashed the near mint body shell, because I'm stupid like that. Eh. Fixed it with some fibre tape, still a bummer, tho!
  7. Speaking of shocks, what shocks are recommended for the Box? I've heard something about Ansmann, but I'm not sure where to get them and which specifically... Oh, also, I'm experiencing quite some steering slop (servo doesn't really go to the center position when I release the steering, but rather ends up always in a slightly off position). Any suggestions that will help against this? Hope you guys don't mind that I ask this in the Lunch-picture thread.
  8. Decided to sticker up my battered Lunchbox... dunno if I really like it yet, but it looks more complete this way, haha. Really need to get myself going to paint up a shelf body for it, the one I use for running looks like it's been through a war and I only got this model a few weeks ago Oh, and this is what it looked like before, taken just a few hours ago after I came back from the latest run Running is on hold until sometime next week... lost a wheel nut and don't have any spares any more, need to pick up some M4 nuts at the hardware store, too bad it's my only r/c at the moment. Can't wait until the FF01 I won on the evil auction site comes in
  9. Yup, which is even better. Judging from the wheels mounted on it, it seems it probably was the last FF01, the VW Beetle. Copied the pictured out from the auction: Can't wait until it gets here and I can tinker with it!
  10. Well.... seems that it's settled, and I didn't choose either of the suggested chassis! But hey, at least it's related to the TA-02! I just won an auction for a used FF-01 on ebay which I stumbled upon by pure chance a few hours ago, for just 37,50€! The chassis looks to be complete although a bit battered and it comes with a Opel Astra body I've never seen before (not the Tamiya DTM Astra body but a stock, street style Astra, possibly by Carson) and a Novak ESC. I think with some time to freshen it up this will make a fine parking lot runner.
  11. Yes, I will only be bashing around, not doing any serious racing. Maybe occassional friendly runs together with a friend, but no serious racing. I'm more in it for the pure fun of seeing something I build and/or tinkered with moving around. That Miata looks like it took a LOT of abuse! Yes, like I said, ideally I would like another TA02 as it was great fun! But I'm a bit impatient and the current ebay listings don't offer anything interesting regarding this or similar chassis. Only thing I find are a few of the TA02T F150 Trucks. So, I don't really want to patiently wait for something to pop up. Which is why I'm looking at new kits. I know the chassis will be beaten up after a few runs, but I don't mind! I looked around on RCMart like you suggested, thanks for the tip! But ultimately it would be cheaper for me to order at Tamico.de, because it ends up being cheaper considering the shipping, I fear. Might not be the case for certain items depending on how much the prices differ, but the few I just checked ended up being cheaper here in Germany including shipping. The 3Racing chassis looks interesting, however!
  12. So, ever since I got back into R/C a few months ago I've been toying around with my Lunchbox and it's great fun, but I'd like something for car park bashing, since there's a nice car park just a two minutes walk away from where I live and it's completely empty on the weekends! I used to have a TA02 about 7 years ago and actually ran it often on the aforementioned parking lot and it was great fun! Ideally I would like another TA02 runner, but as I'm a bit impatient and there's nothing that really catches my eye on ebay currently, I've been looking at new kits. There's a few that have caught my eye. Mainly the TT-01E as it is available with a BMW E36 318i STW body shell and I drive an E36 as my 1:1 car and at 119€ it's affordable. But also, I've found a shop selling the M-04 for 99€ with the Miata body shell. I've always liked the Miata and 99€ is an attractive price. Which of both chassis would be the better choice for car park bashing? What are the recommended hop ups in either case? What are other affordable alternatives readily available out there? Some input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
  13. I currently have the TEU-104 on my Lunchbox and I don't like it, mostly because it seems to not work well with my receiver and transmitter (Carson Reflexwheel 2 LCD Pro as 2.4GHZ). The ESC can of course only be plugged in in one direction, but when I plug in the motor cables correctly, so that the car drives forward when I pull the trigger back, it gets the 50% power of the reverse! If I switch the motor cables around, the car drives with full power going forward but I have to push the trigger forward instead of pulling backwards... kinda counter-intuitive... and it seems it can't be flipped on the transmitter, so IMHO it seems the ESC is at fault. /edit: Nevermind. I just bothered to read the ESC instructions and realized what a tool I am. Now it's working properly. I don't really mind the 50% reverse, but I would prefer 100%.
  14. That looks like much fun! How big was that mini-sized track? Did you guys have any RCs to run on that?
