  1. I don't do, collections, as such, but... I would like (feels like I should be sitting on Santa's knee...😂) -Avante -Bruiser - Porsche 959 - Re re Brat (actually wanted a Brat, and Santa brought a Frog, but hated the gearbox & driveshafts, hoping the re re fixes that..ish) (- none Tamiya , Raco JackRabbit..) Trouble is, none of the original cars above (Brat I don't class as, original, although the only one on the lost likely to happen), are in my price bracket. Having owned a fair few of my childhood wish list (Rough Rider, BigWig, Ninja , Maxxum ) they where rather underwhelming, having raced and got used to modern brushless buggies (the Ninja and the Maxxum I sold, as I didn't enjoy driving them, with the fear of breaking them, and not able to get parts, and the JackRabbit probably won't be as quick as my race buggies either..)
  2. Was down visiting my folks, and just happened to catch a glimpse of an old Jet Fighter book I got off santa in my youth, so had a flick through, as you do.. Ohhhh, that's where those HPI Savage ,Dodge Charger decals went to.....🤦‍♂️
  3. Good work!! Not the nicest of jobs. I ended up hanging it from an I beam in the workshop/ unit roof and using a wire knot brush on a angle grinder (top tip, don't have baggy sleeves, if a wire grabs it, you end up in a, self headlock...😳)
  4. Ironically, I'm down south visiting family, and only minutes from Robinhood Raceway, (but wasnt any room in the car, for any Tamiyas...)🤦‍♂️ ☆ Turns out, the Nationals are there this weekend too!!! 🫣
  5. The servo draws more current than the esc can supply (usually a high torque, high speed servo, the likes of the 1060 are only 3amp ), and just pulls all the power away from the receiver, so the receiver cuts out. You can get 'Glitch busters' which are just a capacitor across the terminals (I built my own, and plugged into the Batt port) which store some energy, and help stop it. https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/1350768 I'd say keep it, all RC problems can be resolved bud, but can be a tad frustrating sorting them. If you're on FB, might be of interest. https://facebook.com/groups/rcmhap/
  6. Well, thats me sold 👍😀
  7. Just wouldn't calibrate full brake with a 10BL120 esc on her race car, not sure if I had something set wrong in the TX throttle settings, but switched channels, and used the steering, and it did it first try 🤷‍♂️
  8. That's what I got for my kids, a bit of a faff to bind extra recievers, and to calibrate to an esc (ended up using the steering channel..), but great radio for the cash.
  9. I waited a good while, before taking the plunge to 2.4, I mean ,its only the frequency right?......🫣 Modern radios are not only interference free, but have a plethora of features I didn't now I needed, until I got them, and now I don't know what I'd do without! The main ones for me, are Multi memory - can store xxx number of recievers in its memory, so when you buy another car , you just buy another reciever, set to #2 and all the settings are saved. EPA / End Point Adjustment- this let's you alter the end point of the servo or throttle. You'll usually find, that when you turn full ,the steering arm hits the end stop, and the servo is still trying to turn. You can alter the end point down to ,say 97%, and the steering reaches the bump stop and no more. But the majority of the time, I use it when the kids drive my race cars, as rather than swap the fast motor out, I just drop the end point to 25% and off they go. Which worked well for my daughter learning to drive, as I put a faster motor than she could drive in, and dropped the throttle end point, and set her wee challenges (think Gran turismo licences.. ), and when she completed them, I turned the speed up a bit 😁 Those are the main ones, but on more expensive radios, you can alter the throttle or steering curve (instead of linear, ie 50% is 50% , you can have 50% steering at 40% input , then ramp up to 100% at 100%) , ABS braking strength etc, but that's more if you're racing. Think of it a bit like WIFI, in the sense that, the WiFi router (transmitter) is sending out the signal, and 1000's of devices 'could' lock on, but only the one with the WiFi password (receiver has been binded) would be able to except the signal and comunicate. There could 1000 WiFi routers in a block of flats, but you can only communicate with the one that you had the password for. Nope, well ,there might be, the chance of a lottery win chance..🤷‍♂️ Depends, there's a few different protocols /systems, a bit like Android and Apple, so if you had one type, and the wheel was another, then no, it wouldn't bind. There's not much options for us old stick guys, so if you're on the fence, I'd maybe go for a wheel now, and get used to it, as there's soooooo much more choice. (Surprised there's 18 on the modelsport website tbh, but only the single Futaba with full feature ,at £270, as my Sanwa Exzes ZZ is discontinued) Most of mine now ,don't even have an antenna either! 😀
  10. How did you get on? Is it worth a 600 mile round trip? I keep promising to head down, but look at my watch, and it's Christmas again!!😬. Santa Pod is nearby, so maybe tie in with an event there too..🤔
  11. I used to work on the 1:1 at home (mostly, some in work), and the RC mods in work, mainly as we've the lathes / milling machines, hydraulic press etc. Since Covid landed, maintenance (didn't realise how much 'essential ' maintenance needed done...) has been flat out, so not many RC projects have been ticked off the list..
  12. Aye man, All the build so far pictures, are all through the thread.
  13. I wish I'd got a rotisserie tbh, would have made life so much easier, Had to make do with some trollies, and a scaffold blank!
  14. Has run a 9.8 & 137 since (last weekend) Still 100% a street car ! He's a developer for Megasquirt, (built mine for me) so there's plenty of R&D, and more to come.
  15. Brilliant! Those rovers are getting a bit scarce these days! Have you seen the guy down in Yorkshire (and fellow RCer) building his mk1 with a turbo'd Rover? (Think the story was, it was tubbed and tubed many moons ago) (Random, but...) Mates Rover that used to be in (now running a turbo'd SBC in Street Eliminator in the 9's) , his Mk2 Cortina Estate, heads, cam , converted to multi point injection and coil packs (homemade pick up, where the dizzy should be) , tuned through 8x EGT's and 2 x O2 sensors, with a 2 stage nitrous set up. Got it down into the 11's at the Pod! Honestly, i could look at this for hours, as there was always something new he was testing.. 🙄🤣 Sounded awesome too, with launch control, flat shifting and whine when the 2nd stage came in.
