TA 02 Question - Extend rear

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I am currently working on a TA 02 project with 58144 Nissan 300ZX Imsa Chassis parts as a base.

I want to make the rear axle/track wider by 5 mm each side.

Wheelbase is 257 mm and should stay as is.

Are there parts from other TA models that i could use to make this properly?

Has someone done something like this before?

OC

The TG10 long axles and hexes should do the trick - I fitted a set to my Farm King the other day. Or you could simply use wheels with a big offset. That is how my wife brought her TL01 out to the right width for her Wildcat shell.

If you reverse the external parts of the rims they should gain more offset.

In order to extend the rear i just have purchased sets of 10mm rear hubs (10,98 USD) and color matching 5mm front hubs (12,- USD).

I only need 2 of each.

So if someone is interested in the other pair (2 x 10mm + 2 x 5mm) wheek hubs let me know. Would sell for 11,49 USD (half of the price of the 4) plus shipping.

Is there any reason that Tamiya 53332 TA03R Long Rear Axle set won't work?

I have TA02 Universals on my TA03 which work exactly the same.

Just a nice neat solution if it were to work (and you could find someone with the parts in stock!)

TA03 don't work because they have different shape and need different ball bearings.

Indeed the rear offset on a TA02W is normally created by the wheels. You could also use the Hummer's suspension arms and regular size wheels - they will give about the same amount of offset but you'll need different dogbones as well (and there might be other slight complications). But I thought I'd throw it out there anyway (it's what I'll be doing on my SW).

^_^
