March75 155 Posted July 31, 2015 Hi All, I have an old Acoms Techniplus MK III that works but the battery gauge is somehow faulty - it only shows 20% even with a brand new set of batteries. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? There are two trim pots inside that may be related to the battery meter but I don't want to experiment with them in case they are not! Cheers, Simon
waterbok 1282 Posted July 31, 2015 maybe the dial gets stuck and cant get beyond 20%?
Yonez 180 Posted July 31, 2015 Try to look for corroded connections or something else a bit more obvious first. Or post a picture of the circuit board and wiring to the battery meter. An analogue voltmeter does have a resistor in series, but I would assume that they used a fixed resistor and not a potmeter. If a pot is used to tune the meter, then it should be directly connected to the battery gauge. More usually, potmeters are used to tune the receiver and should not be fiddled with. More probably, waterbok is correct.

This is what i thought - I have "resisted" so far I'll have another look tonight and see if I can break in to the meter - hopefully its that simple...
