  1. To put my 2 pence in, stick with a nice brushed motor. 15t was fun but was the max really. Running a 21t was nice. I put a 9t brushless in my holiday buggy, great fun watching it wheelie and it went like the clappers HOWEVER the holiday buggy body is fragile. With so much speed it flipped easy, breaking the wheel arches and roof was gutted. Need to buy another one and just run brushed in it.
  2. Hi all, I'm after some advice, I have my eyes on a Tamiya Hornet for sale but I don't know much about them. I want to buy it in the hope it's one of the original 1984 batches....... Could someone please shed some light for me please on how many times the Hornet has been re-re? Also what are the tell tale signs to show the difference in a MK1, Mk2 etc... Hornet? Thanks everyone JB DT-02 (possibly a future Hornet owner )
  3. Thanks for the Advice. I want it to be a moderate cost rebuild, the price of the FTX wheels do look appealing! Thanks
  4. Hi All, I'm currently stripping down an original Manta ray, my first vintage project! I have the hop up gears, motor mount and drive shaft just stuck on the wheels. It has the original wheels but the tyres are shot as you can imagine for its age. To finish the project I would really appreciate some advise on tyres. What would be a good replacement tyre, am I right in assuming the wheel is a 2.0 diameter? Or is there a good replacement set of wheels/tyres for the Manta ray? It would be a basher but would hope to run it at some vintage events on the track. Any advise would be much appreciated! Cheers.
  5. Thanks for the information, much appreciated! I had to CV glue them on previously as the brushless set-up spun the tyres off the rims. Boiling might be the way forward.
  6. Hi All! Just wondering how can I remove the old tyres from my Holiday Buggy dt02 rims (the yellow ones). Was going to use the acetone way as it doesn't stink the house out! I heard it can melt certain Tamiya rims does anyone know if this is true? Any help would be amazing, I've ordered new tyres, don't want to mess it up then order new wheels aswell.
  7. Cheers for all the replies and pics! Going to have a go at the mods tonight! If I can figure out how, I'll post some pics.
  8. Hi All, Hope someone can help with this question please? Looking at using hardcase lipo in my Dt-02 but how have people got them to fit? The depth of the battery bay is 24mm but alot of Lipo are anything from 24mm - 25mm deep (Looking on Hobbyking!). My Zippy 5700 (25mm deep) doesn't fit, so trying to find the best way to fit it in the car. Thinking of maybe removing the upper battery holder, cutting slits in the side of the battery holder and feeding velco through to hold the lipo? Any advise or pictures would be amazing! Thanks!
