  1. Didn’t think for one minute you were nit-picking mate and you were absolutely correct in pointing out it actually has it printed on the side of the box! Incidentally if tamiya release that torque splitter set again it’s definitely worth buying especially if you’re in a club that uses the likes of a school hall because it works really well turning in corners (goes in 2wd pulls out 4wd ) cool to watch
  2. @Saito2 @Twinfan sorry my mistake do forgive me I thought if it’s on the side of the box it must come with the centre diff?………then what did I buy that comes standard in the black special and it was 47389 torque splitter set! this and the upgrade steering is standard in the Avante black special.
  3. I’ve had two avante 2011 and both didn’t come standard with the centre ball diff but my black special did and upgraded steering! tamiya might have changed the spec of late but definitely my two didn’t have centre ball diff because I bought the hop-up set for them both
  4. Yep you’re right they are identical just different colours the centre ball diff was an option for the avante and standard in the avante black special
  5. Yeah sorry black special, black edition are different! But your right if your a collector I would grab a black edition (fund’s permitting because they ain’t cheap) while you can!
  6. Basically the black edition is the same buggy but different colours and that’s it (oh and the numbers on the decals are different) my personal opinion is tamiya have been very lazy with this one they could have put a special edition motor in the kit (like the avante black edition) saying that all depends on which one you personally like and is that worth the extra price? They are both fantastic looking in my mind and tamiya will constantly re release the original probably in small batches because it sells but the black edition caught tamiya out because it didn’t really sell and kits you see now on the shop shelves are still the original batch so for collectors the black version is the collectible version because I highly doubt it’s gonna get a re run as for running it’s a very capable buggy and an improvement on the avante but it’s an old late 80s design so can’t match the equivalent modern buggy but brilliant fun in a school hall vintage race (which I’ve done with my original version) basically what I’m saying is it’s down to what you think looks good because they are exactly the same and weather you think the special edition is worth the extra money?
  7. For me it has to be (and it really pains me because I’m an absolute fan of Kyosho) £65 for a body for the optima mid 60th anniversary and that’s without the wing yes it comes with decals but £65 seriously Kyosho that probably at best cost pennies to make?
  8. Had this body for a few years and just didn’t exactly know what to do with it and because it’s a shapely body it doesn’t really lend itself to a jazzy paint scheme so I put it in the attic and forgot about it until builders came around to fix my roof and replace the lead flashing on the chimney and it made an appearance so with the actual sun shining (and yes it is the actual sun ☀️) I decided to actually finish it
  9. I think tamiya got its fingers burned when they re-released the vqs(vanquish) and then the egress black edition (but that was partly their fault because they clearly didn’t put much effort into making it different from the original egress other than the colour) so I think they are going to be a bit reluctant to go for a 2001 any time soon but I honestly hope they prove me wrong!
  10. I think anyone who buys an rc car, buggy, truck etc for financial gain should really think twice about those things as an investment especially anything tamiya! the avante is a beautiful piece of miniature engineering and that’s what it should be celebrated for and tamiya are going to pump them out for year’s weather that’s in small batches or sustained runs like the sand scorcher simply because they do sell worldwide so it’s no surprise it’s on a future release date! So just enjoy it for what it is an iconic fantastic model rc buggy
  11. Absolutely brilliant quality and have that open kit box tyre smell
  12. Just got my order from Marwan and the quality is superb the alloy wheels I got a few weeks ago this is the first time they’ve come together and I think they look very good and it doesn’t matter if the green isn’t the exact match to the green kit wheels
  13. The man himself has just contacted me and 100% my fault why my order hasn’t been dispatched I didn’t fill out the order properly……..this is why I should always make sure I consult the younger members of the family before I order anything from the internet!
  14. Ordered mine the moment they were available but as of yet I’ve heard nothing
  15. Looks superb! What did you think of the build? I thought it was going to be one of those kit a bit like a classic Schumacher where the instructions are just a guide line but how wrong is was it was probably one of the best kits I’ve ever built! I did a retro colour and kept my undertray clear aswell so you can see all the chassis and workings my one isn’t seeing much action aswell but I have taken it out in the garden and it’s very smooth
