Vrooom666 31 Posted September 2, 2014 Anyone got one of those? thinking of toyota cruiser one... They look sweet.. but im little surprised they dont offer more model line up for this chassis. 4wd, can do wheelies, handles good, what more do you want. What hop up are must aside from bearings? I noticed they use 0 degrees rear toe in block. if i add M05 toe in block. it would be even more stable and handle well?
Shaggy39 43 Posted September 2, 2014 I have just bought one and plan to fit the wr01 yellow shocks and of course bearings. Sticking with stock tuned motor with lipo for power!
Vrdetailing 1241 Posted September 2, 2014 Would not say it handles well.. Rolls over very easily.. But they are awesome at wheelies and very capable off road
Grastens 2795 Posted September 2, 2014 I heard it handles better than a WR-02, anyways, with a little more weight on the front to help in the corners from those gears driving the front wheels.
taffer 946 Posted September 2, 2014 Just putting the finishing touches to my GF-01, but have driven it around the house, seems more responsive and direct than my WR-02's (just like other 4WD's in comparison to 2WD's!) I need to find time to experiment swapping the various wheels and tyres around to see their influences and try different oils in the hopup shocks. Overall, on tarmac at least, it seems the WR-02 and GF-01 are some of the most challenging to drive without tipping! BUT that's part of the fun!
IBIFTKH 1369 Posted September 2, 2014 It's short, tall and comparatively narrow so handling and stability aren't its strong points. But that's part of the fun. It is a bit more stable than the WR-02 and the extra traction is noticeable, especially on loose or damp surfaces. I'd guess that toe-in blocks aren't going to make a huge improvement but would be interested in your feedback. A steel pinion is a must, and oil shocks will help a bit. In both my kits the bearings were a loose fit in the rear knuckles so I bought alloy knuckles. If you can find any, the TL-01 adjustable upper arm set (53303) will fit. Tamiya make an alloy steering arm, servo mounts, gearbox reinforcing plates and of course the blingy alloy wheelie bar wheel.
waterbok 1282 Posted September 2, 2014 Bling! Bling!! Bling!!! Bling!!!! Noticed the bit with the bearings too, are quite loose, swapped the knuckles against the grey reinforced TL bits but that didnt change much. Will have a go with some metal cut out of a tinfoilcan.
