  1. Hi- I picked up one of these for my neo fighter buggy. Piece of cake to assemble once I got the balls in the holes. A few questions: How much grease? How tight? Anything else I need to be in the lookout for before it goes in the gearbox? It seems to be a open and exposed unit. I have the DF-02 universals to replace the kit dog bones.
  2. I run all my tamiyas but I'm always hosing and brushing them off after. I Notice every scratch and ding and it DOES bother me. They are works of art to be sure. Muddy tired especially bug me. Oh well.
  3. Thanks. Looks easy enough. Gonna grab one and some green paint! I love the Hornet look and the colors but have mowed through the bodies over the years.
  4. I'm tired of the fin breaking off my Hornet and I need a new body anyway. GH bodies that are painted look pretty slick and can be had for about $25 USD on eBay? Any major tricks to getting these on a Hornet?

  6. Rough and jumpy! Serves me right for buying such a cheap set. It might be bound for my df02 then, my least favorite buggy! I'll need to get Into one of the hobbyking 540 Motors and ESCs everyone has been raving about. Cheers.

  8. Ball diff is tamiya 53863 and they want you to pair it with the DF02 (tamiya 53791) universal shaft...at least according to the box from Japan 😀
  9. Thanks Greg! Robinson racing #1117 Fit the Bill? And the motor is a 12T 3300KV. Should be OK I think? tamiya 54560 is the lightweight gear shaft. My kit came with solid steel ones. Any point In the 3racing universals? http://www.3racing-parts.com/shop/tamiya-dt02-chassis-universal-shaft-heavy-duty-for-3racing-dt0203hd-p-1051005.html
  10. Thanks...I ended up dropping in a Hobbywing QUICRUN 1060 brushed and a HPI thunderbolt 15T brushed motor in my Pumpkin. I run it with 5000 mAh NiMH. I get about 30 minutes per pack and the sucker screams with this set-up. I'm running it with the standard 10T pinion but *could* move over to a 12T pinion as I have an adjustable motor mount. That idea has been met with skepticism on this board. The QUICRUN 1060 was $22 USD delivered and by far the EASIEST ESC I ever installed. The jumpers are sooo much better than the beeping game Tamiya has us play. It even has a LiPo cut-off. Good stuff.
  11. Oops sorry...one more thing. Are the low weight drive shafts worth the $5?
  12. VIVEACE MART. I've got some 3rd party dampers (90mm and 70mm) coming and and have ordered one of those Leopard brushless combos (10t). 380 motor in a 540 heat sink from what I can tell. Carbon damper stays, aluminum servo mount, aluminum motor mount, aluminum servo saver and battery bar are all on the way. Anything else I missed? Any point in the DT-02 ball differential? I'm going to make my first foray to the open hours at the local track and don't want to be too embarrassed. 😀

  14. OK. Thanks. That's a bummer. If I got it from Tower Hobbies then I would have got the rest for the same price.
  15. IN an open box with no oil filled dampers, no ESC, and no electric motor. UGH... I guess they opened it and took some of the component out? Or is Tamiya making these more low-end than ever? OK...What dampers should I purchase?
