  1. I found when doing the big stickers they needed little nicks in the edges to allow them to curve. I also modded my chassis for more travel and ground clearance, for a rally model its pretty poor as stock. Link to mod thread
  2. My friends and I recently decided to get some car park bashers for a bit of fun. They all went with TA-02s but I thought I'd try something a bit newer with a TT-02R. Plus I could get one with the awesome Lancia shell included As the aim was cheap racing I limited myself to adding bearings, 53113 sponges and 54500 spur gear during the build. Once built I was surprised by how Tamiya differentiate the TT-02 and TT-02R, the extra ground clearance being essentially turning the rear hubs upside down and shimming the front hubs I wanted more and this is how I did it: At the front the limiting factor seemed to be the spacers above and below the hub hitting the balljoint cups. To remedy this I replaced the thick plastic parts with 1/4 inch washers top and bottom and cut some thin walled alloy tube (K+S stock #106) 4mm spacers to spread the arms. After this the upper limit of travel was increased slightly and lower limit much increased. With the increase the hub now hit the arms so I ground off the lugs shown in the pics. I also fitted a spacer between the hub and steering link as it now sat very close to the chassis. Front hubs: Front arms: At the rear things were much simpler, the travel being limited by lugs on the rear hub. 30 seconds with the Dremel gained lots more travel at the rear. Rear hubs: Then it was just a matter of replacing the awful awful stock shocks (so cheap!) with some longer 62mm oil filled ones and job done. Here is an idea of the extra travel, modded on the left, stock on the right, compressed at the top and extended on the bottom. Front setup: Rear setup: Stock clearance: Modded clearance: So far all seems good, the bones haven't popped out yet and they seem to touch but not rub the cups at the limits. If they do I'll consider CVDs but for the moment I'm keeping it cheap and cheerful. Edit: I should also mention that I put tiny o rings in the diff cups at the front.
  3. Not compatible with your radio I'm afraid. If the shop told you it was get them to change it for a TFR4 which is what you want with a 3PK. These are great little receivers, here is a review of the TFR4 I did on another forum. linky
