  1. After reading this thread in great detail I purchased a 48P 68T spur gear and 20T pinion from Yeah Racing for my Neo Scorcher. The spur gear is too small in diameter (36mm) to enable any meshing of this combination using the adjustable motor mount. The 0.6 mod 68T Tamiya pinion supplied with the high speed gear set is 41mm worn out. Any specific brands or part numbers that work on the TT02 with this gearing? 48P too small. Thanks.
  2. It was 1984 and I was 15. The owner of the local Toyworld had a demo grasshopper that we used to run around the yard out the back of the store. I convinced my mum to buy me a Frog kit to build over the school holidays and I had it done in the first weekend. Had to wait forever to get a radio for it though. The JR Circus 2 cost $400. Still have the lot and all working. Upgraded the Frog to ESC and now have the spare JR servo steering my son's DT03.
  3. Thanks for all the reply everyone, cheers. I thought the 12.5T would be the best Tamiya choice and you have confirmed that for me. Now I just have to get my hands on one, at the right price.
  4. several times a day is the only choice for question 3 so I declined to vote.
  5. Hello again I am looking at getting a brushless motor for my DT-03. I want a Tamiya sensored motor to use with the supplied ESC and keep it all Tamiya. I tried to order a 12.5T from Banzai and they are out of stock with no ETA from supplier. They can do a 10.5T. My question is, is this a good choice or too much power for DT-03? Bearing in mind that the car really belongs to my seven year old son. I am in no way concerned as to the legality for competition or otherwise as I am not a racer but not adverse to a bit of spirited driving from time to time.
  6. Cool, which is better 2s1P or 2s2P? What does the s and P mean? Do I need to buy an adapter for the Tamiya plug on the esc? I am keen on the battery but for the charger, would this be ok? Hobbyking EC06 5A balance charger w/accessories I can make do with a car battery for charging as that's what I use now. I have a 5A Ansmann that melts the plastic off cheap NiMH's!
  7. Hi everyone Thanks for replying to all of my previous questions, I really appreciate your advice and recommendations. There is a lot of experienced RC'ers her that's for sure. Lastly (for now anyway), I must choose a battery and charger for my DT03. I would like something better than an NiMH I think. I am not impressed with Tamiya's available options in this area especially the prices. Can anyone recommend a good value battery and charger combo? Keeping in mind that I am in Australia so if its a mains charger it will need to be for use here. I will be running a Tamiya 12.5T sensored brushless motor with the supplied tble-02s esc. I expect to spend $50-$100 AUD for both together Thanks in advance
  8. If I buy the ball collars, can I mount them with the 3x14 step screws or must I use longer self tappers. If so, how much length do I need to add to allow for the thickness of the collars? Basically, I am asking, what is the internal hole size in the collar and how thick, front to back is the collar?
  9. Ok, so you just screw the metal thread in where the self tapper has been and it tightens up by itself? Surely that not what Mr.Tamiya intended, to have it held in more or less by luck. Hey, that last post came through while I was typing. M3 tap would be worth trying I guess. Thanks everyone for your replies.
  10. One more question from the 'newbie' who's only owned a Frog for the past 30 years. I can't figure out how attach ball mounts for my shocks on the DT03 when the step screws are self tapping into the plastic of the damper stay. Do they need to be drilled out or something?
  11. Is the RW part number 3219 for a 19T?
  12. Thanks guys, I take it that Tamiya don't make them themselves?
  13. Wanting a pair of steel pinions for my DT 03. Can anyone steer me in the right direction in terms of brand and part number. In my other thread a 0.6 mod pinion is mentioned but the standard part number, from the manual says its a 0.6 mod. I don't understand, please help.
  14. Oh yes, the GPM parts come in green. I was just thinking last night the car needs a sump guard, so much plastic underneath.
  15. What is a part number for the 5mm ball nuts and how to they attach? Ie: do they have self tappers or do you have to drill the arms for metal threads to go through? I think they are included with the carbon fibre damper stays, might be easier to get these.
