Vrdetailing 1241 Posted December 27, 2015 As requested . A standard build .. Some LED and a Experimenting with an aging was if I am brave enough
Vrdetailing 1241 Posted December 30, 2015 Ok so I always start with the body .. I want my truck to look less like a Tonka to so I'm having a go at making it look weathered.. I have added some water and a drop of soap to tamiya black acrylic and gone for it no idea what I am doing lol
ChrisRx718 4470 Posted December 30, 2015 Experimenting is how you figure things out! It looks very good from here so far though, well done.
waterbok 1282 Posted December 30, 2015 Looking good sofar. Surprisingly on most pictures these trucks always look pretty clean, its mainly the loadingbay that gets dirty
Nitomor 2122 Posted December 30, 2015 Looks great, good idea.
Smidsy 46 Posted December 30, 2015 Like the paint effect. Fair play for trying it out, with no idea how it would work. Craig
Vrdetailing 1241 Posted December 30, 2015 I'm going for a dirty old look .. You can follow me and see how it works out lol.. I should fill the bed with cement .. I think is will need a mat varnish after but making it up as I go along lol .. I have used some enamel on the air filter fronts , the grill and the front cabin window so far
Vrdetailing 1241 Posted December 31, 2015 Cooking in the oven at 40 Matt clear coat first dusting drying by the man cave fire Inthink I will add the decals and maybe dirty wash them
Drivetrain 11 Posted December 31, 2015 Cooking in the oven at 40 Matt clear coat first dusting drying by the man cave fire Inthink I will add the decals and maybe dirty wash them Nice effect! Especially the front grill and wheels. Maybe get a little thinner and wipe the high points on the bed to get more contrast? Have no idea how it would react with the plastic though. Vrdetailing 1241 Posted December 31, 2015 I think some areas will wear and show the yellow more with use .. A small run with emery would bring it out if needed .. It's all suck it and see. The enamel reacted a little with the laquer because it was not cured enough but gives a nice texture that I feel adds a little .. I can always redo later if in not happy Decals added And washed over and clear coated to make them blend in
Vrdetailing 1241 Posted December 31, 2015 Brought it down to show my friends when they come and took a few pics in a decent light .. Looks more like the actual colour now on the pics .. LED lighting can make things look odd
Nitomor 2122 Posted January 1, 2016 I think that looks superb. Thumbs up!
berman 5315 Posted January 1, 2016 Brutal! You wouldn't think that was a new kit 5 minutes ago! Definitely a coal mine dumper, I hope the driver kept his windows up! B) You could fill the bed with something light like chunks of painted polystyrene glued together or expanding foam or something that's really light
waterbok 1282 Posted January 1, 2016 Got a feeling we will be seeing more of this beast in some awesome vids.
Vrdetailing 1241 Posted January 1, 2016 I like the idea of something light in the bed got me thinking .. Better start the building soon .. Bit more painting first
Vrdetailing 1241 Posted January 1, 2016 The sprues are a lighter yellow than the body but should look just fine
Vrdetailing 1241 Posted January 1, 2016 All bits painted up now
ChrisRx718 4470 Posted January 1, 2016 Coming on nicely bud. Tyres are gonna look strange all new and shiny! Will look good once they've lost their box-fresh sheen.
XV Pilot 1936 Posted January 1, 2016 That looks great so far, and I think it will look even better with use, as the weathering wears off the high points and the tyres get a bit of genuine dust on them. Looking forward to the next update!
Jeffyboy403 57 Posted January 4, 2016 I'm surprised how well it turned out tbh. Well done I must say. May I suggest that you spray bomb the inside of the dump box with Testors model master metalizer. Or somthing similar from Humbrol or Tamiya. Again good job
Vrdetailing 1241 Posted January 4, 2016 Thanks .. I am sure once built i will play with some more techniques or just drive it around with lumps of coal in it lol. The Build has started
