  1. I use the Iwata Neo series of airbrush (it's their entry level airbrush) Choice of 2, 1 cup on top and a finer needle, the other bottle feed from below and a larger needle. Both been very reliable and I've been pleased with the results. As ever with airbrushing a lot of the success is in getting the pressure and thinning of the paint right. :O)
  2. Can confirm the original one is sitting in my restored SuperChamp. Tamiyabase has more info: https://tamiyabase.com/parts/834 Setup details can be found in the Superchamp manual.
  3. I've airbrushed Tamiya acylics onto 1/24 model cars and it's worked very well. Thin with X-20a Tamiya thinner in a 2:1 ratio (2 Paint to 1 of thinner) and it's pretty much ready to go. I use an Iwata Neo with a 0.35 needle and it covered nicely once I'd found an air pressure I was happy with. Also recommend buying a job lot of pipettes for mixing.
  4. Dark solid colours and white seem to lay down really nicely, lighter colours (especially Yellow) can need a fair few coats. Be aware of tip dry if spraying on a warm day, I was spraying at the height of summer and it was an issue if I waited too long between passes (thinner did help) - i mostly spray and decal bodies in the winter when it doesn't look fun outside. Metallics are OK, but usually need backing with something solid. Biggest problem I've had is with black which seems to have thicken in the bottle (or I've had it too long or didn't close it properly) Clean-up is easy using water and a final pass with proper air-brush cleaner. Attached are photos of bodies I've sprayed. First photo the Purple Subaru in the left is Vallejo, Subaru XV next to it is Tamiya paints.
  5. I use these paints so I can safely air brush indoors and in the winter: https://www.everythingairbrush.com/airbrush-paints/vallejo-premium-color.html I'd still recommend a mask to protect from airbourne particles, but the paint is water based, non toxic and flexible when used on Lexan.
  6. Yep, in Lexan. With the extra decals for the side. Also switched tyres for softer ones as i find the Tamiya ones way to hard to be gripped on loose surface where I mainly run.
  7. Asterion uses the same chassis, but different suspension arms and (if memory serves) shocks. Also different pinions. I have both XV-01 Lancia and Asterion (although it has a Bowler Wildcat body) and behaviour is similar, although with the bigger wheels the Asterion is more likely to roll.
  8. Tamiyabase has this if it's what you're looking for: https://tamiyabase.com/downloads/download-categories/download/11-pdf-bodyset-instructions/88304-body-58596?lang=en You will need an account to download them.
  9. I also use a Bosch IXO, but with the torque adapter: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosch-IXO-Torque-Setting-Adapter/dp/B00JZI0X50/ref=asc_df_B00JZI0X50/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=226606326869&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6355538408912982800&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9045064&hvtargid=pla-420005322866&psc=1&th=1&psc=1 Have had problems with a previous electric driver getting plastic too hot, so tend to take my time and if possible rotate round the screws in each step to put all of them in part way before going back and finishing them off (or with the longer screws sometimes 3 or 4 times). But I also now do that if I use a normal screwdriver too just to be on the safe side.
  10. Pretty sure that these: https://www.modelsport.co.uk/core-rc-4000mahr-7-4v-30-60c-2s-lipo/rc-car-products/388538 fit all cars that were designed for rounded stick packs. Certainly happy in TA01, TA02, CC01, Fox and Hotshot to name a few.
  11. Renault Alpine https://www.tamiya.com/english/products/58591/index.htm is 210mm Has been on M-02 and M-06 (Also I think on M-05 but that was just wrong!)
  12. Just checked my Fox manual (dated 1985) and step 35 shows the windows being masked with strips of masking table. It also shows you paint the body with a brush! Hopefully the attached picture shows what I mean.
  13. You mean like on the last page of the instructions here: https://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=99397&id=2400 ??
