  1. First time I've seen a hotshot being built. I'm taken with how many parts tamiya re used between this and the boomerang.
  2. I've been designing arms for my boomerang. Have both upper and lower fronts and lower rears done. Have to modify my upper rear design a little to make them fit around the shocks properly. Should probably tweak the rear lower as it just clips the bottom of the spring mount on full extension but it's fine when the car's weight is on it so I'm not too worried. Seems I spend 20 hours designing and testing for every battery pack I put through it. I'll get some pics together soon.
  3. That is a good idea. Noted for my next build that does turnbuckles.
  4. The trf comes with a body as well if not wheels.
  5. Lately I've drilled out the hole and filled it with either gflex epoxy straight or with colloidal silica depending on of the part is structural. It seems to give a good mix between strength and a little flex so it doesn't shatter on impact. So far so good.Edit: I let it cure then drill the proper sized hole back into the piece.
  6. Assuming you design the part yourself you still get that proprietary feeling. There is still a lot of work you can do after the part comes off the bed, finishing filling refining etc.
  7. My prusa will do PLA ABS TFLEX Nylon tglase and PETG out of the box. Layer resolution is only .1mm but it was $550 CAD+tx. Spools of 1kg PLA are $30CAD. Not bad at all.
  8. The TRF502X is on at tamiyausa for $300USD
  9. Pretty well. The epoxy is just a tiny bit flexible still even with the silica in it. I haven't run the car too much due to weather but I'm happy with it so far. It's allowing me to keep my spare bumper in the box longer.
  10. Hmm I think the vac tank could also accelerate the forming so that the plastic doesn't have as much time to cool as it's formed. Don't know if it does have time to cool... Always wanted to get into vac forming but never had a chance to play with it too much.
  11. If exchange and postage don't kill me SWMBO will.
  12. Spendy but at least you won't be spending the purchase price again on aftermarket pieces.
  13. Nice effect! Especially the front grill and wheels. Maybe get a little thinner and wipe the high points on the bed to get more contrast? Have no idea how it would react with the plastic though.
