Jamesssb 237 Posted August 22, 2014 Hey all Well after my build off my vintage NIB willy's wheeler, I have decided to order the following parts to build a more user friendly car that I don't mind crashing unlike the wheeler below, Toykid told me about a polycarbonate honda city shell that was available on eBay and So I have ordered the following today: 58593 M05 v2 pro 54192 steering link set 54191 steering set 53267 TA03 ball diff 53217 TA03 hardened diff output shafts 53577 TRF damper bushes for diff cups 53390 carbon gearbox shafts M-03/5 Honda city bodyshell. I'm hoping this will all come next week as it's from eBay Germany/uk so no import duty either. I will just have to sort the tyres out now which I'm not sure what to get. I will update when I start the build. If anyone recommends getting anything else please say. James.
waterbok 1282 Posted August 23, 2014 oH No not another one, I still have sleepless nights from your last build. :D Mugen racing design? That shell has dropped in price, last time i looked, that was way expensive + us shipment edit: Just found that shop by his ebay account, is 'just' around the corner, has some nice onroad stuff and a couple of abc Honda shells next an Integra? Grastens 2795 Posted August 23, 2014 I like the sound of this one - go box-art! I kid, of course, since I would rather like to see what you can come up with!
Jamesssb 237 Posted August 23, 2014 I like the sound of this one - go box-art! Â Â I kid, of course, since I would rather like to see what you can come up with! You know it WON'T be box crap lol I'm not sure yet. I will build the chassis and then decide on the colour. May just do it all gun metal but not sure. Where abouts in Germany are you? Iv got the m05 pro chassis coming from Dortmund.

Jamesssb 237 Posted August 24, 2014 Just have a look beneath my Profile picture (left beside my posts) I use the taptalk app on my iphone which does not show the side bar. But Frankfurt sounds a cool place. Famous for a sausage lol
Jamesssb 237 Posted August 25, 2014 Ok so even on a bank holiday in the UK I get parcels???? Lol I'm amazed! Anyway, I have wheels and tyres and the ball diff so far. I was hoping it was the car itself but no sign yet. I managed to get the diff cheap, £7!! With the diff outputs. Old stock I was told lol, result. J
Jamesssb 237 Posted August 25, 2014 I have built the tyres up. Firstly I turned them inside out and de greased them. I evo sticked the inner foam together and double sided the foam inside the tres to stop them from moving. James.
Jamesssb 237 Posted August 25, 2014 Next up is the TA03 ball differential. I was going to order the M05 ball diff but after reading the build instructions off the car online before hand, the instructions even say go for this ball diff. So after a quick look online I was also told to go with the TA03 diff as it is stronger and works better than the new design. All the parts ready: Built up. Ready now for the car to arrive........ waterbok 1282 Posted August 25, 2014 No wider tires on the rear, what rims did you choose?
Jamesssb 237 Posted August 25, 2014 No wider tires on the rear, what rims did you choose? I haven't yet mate, the pro comes with wheels which I was going to look at using. Are you thinking of anything i can use? I'm intrigued lol.
waterbok 1282 Posted August 25, 2014 Are you going scale or cartoonstyle like the Willy wheeler? slightly bigger wheels. the Voltec fighter wheels might be a bit to big with 74mm OD but some Formula slicks (approx. 64mm) might look nice if you can find fitting rims
Jamesssb 237 Posted August 25, 2014 Scale dude. So big wheels are a no no.
Jamesssb 237 Posted August 26, 2014 Ok so the kit turned up from Germany, the box is smaller than I thought it would be. Shiny shrink wrap. Inside pictures off the parts, I do like the shadow dark chrome effect on the plastic. It should look great with all the blue metal parts. A bag full of shiny blue bits!!! 8-) The shock body come in clear plastic. But I am not going to use these as I have a set of TRF gold shocks from my old race car. I will update when the rest of the parts arrive. James.
Jamesssb 237 Posted August 27, 2014 Ok so most off the parts arrived today, So I can start the build. First bag A! Full of shiny parts. The chassis is an amazing black chrome, looks soo nice with the blue parts. The motor heat sink screws to the frame and gets sandwiched between the 2 halves. Next stage is to build the back section of the chassis which holds the servo. I'm using a metal geared savox. A Bit OTT but there great fast servo's. Screwed to the front half. First upgrade! Carbon hollow shafts. These are so light compared to the steel solid ones. All the gears ready for the install. The kit uses 11x5 bearings that then press into plastic housings for the diff outputs, a bit strange. All most an after thought on the design for larger bearings. Gearbox assembled. The kit uses anti-ware grease on the joints around the heat sink and diff. I think this helps to seal the box to stop plastic ware and dirt ingress into the sealed gearbox. Gearbox assembled. The motor heat sink is designed very well. I like the way it pokes up through the chassis too cool the motor heat. That's the first stage and bag A is empty. More soon. Grastens 2795 Posted August 27, 2014 A fine-looking build! The TRF shocks are a great choice, but I still think the clear-bodied types are novel. I guess that seeing when the oil needs changing would hardly work if the bodies were all scratched, though...

Yea agreed and there not as strong as the metal ones and the TRF shocks are coated internally I'm told also.
skip665 169 Posted August 28, 2014 Didn't fancy going for a low profile servo? I bought one specifically for my M05 V2 to try and make the most of the changes to the chassis. If you aren't racing it though I guess that's irrelevant

skip665 169 Posted August 28, 2014 Nothing special - http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking/store/__8781__BMS_705_Low_Profile_High_Torque_Servo_6_0kg_18sec_28g.html Seems OK though - wont get to test the whole car until the 17th September though as that's when we start racing again...
