Sayer 742 Posted January 31, 2015 This may mark the second time I like a HPI body (BRZ) better than the Tamiya counterpart, (first time was Fiat 500 abarth) and with "ballraced, waterproof and sealed drivetrain" on the list of features, this crushes the TT02 for being added to my list. https://www.hpiracing.com/en/article/view/2015012301
Sayer 742 Posted January 31, 2015 No news yet. As far as i know, these were just unveiled at Nurnburg . I've built enough kits that RTR doesn't upset me. (also I'm finding that it makes more sense as my time for building is becoming more scarce)
berman 5315 Posted January 31, 2015 You know T does a ta06 version of the BRZ huh?
Sandster 285 Posted January 31, 2015 How about the tamiya GT86 on the XV01 chassis?
kaylon 235 Posted January 31, 2015 The RS4 is a very nice looking chassis. I love HPI, my e firestorm is still my go to truggy. This nee club racer is tempting my wallet... Infant an on road club racer... K
tam-trucks 116 Posted January 31, 2015 all comes down to quality, tamiya has it,ive had hpi`s before and it was fragile....it pays to shop around
Wez-li 1790 Posted January 31, 2015 I couldn't buy an rtr again. I bought a Kyosho inferno rtr once but I couldn't love it as I hadn't built it myself. Even if I buy a used model I always strip it down and rebuild it, I need to know it's been built properly. The build is a large part of the hobby for me.
Sayer 742 Posted January 31, 2015 You know T does a ta06 version of the BRZ huh? Cool, but it doesn't meet my criteria of sealed drivetrain (also I get the impression it's of higher spec than the HPI). Also, a big selling point for me is the body. Decals notwithstanding, it doesn't have that "too wide for the chassis" thing happening at the back that bugs me about Tamiyas. The Fiat 500 body I mentioned earlier doesn't hang outside the wheels the way the Tamiya one for the M-chassis does (and the track width on the switch was adjustable anyway) How about the tamiya GT86 on the XV01 chassis? I've admittedly got irrational hype backlash regarding the XV01. Too many people acting as though it were the second coming because it's front-motored despite the previously existing TA03 for me to be interested. And again the HPI body is better for me because of the reason I mentioned above. all comes down to quality, tamiya has it,ive had hpi`s before and it was fragile....it pays to shop around I've got 4 HPIs. The Cup Racer wasn't necessarily more fragile, but poor design made it chew gears if driven in a parking lot (why I like the sealed feature on the new cars) but the switch, WR8 and Vorza seem to be made out of iron. Tamiya1/10 382 Posted February 8, 2015 My only experience with hpi is their cup racer, which i have no real compaint about, except how the wheels can be extended out. i just found no company has everything right, which is very normal. I now look at the model over the brand, plus write ups before i decide to buy or not. Brand along is not that important as i know no company can hit a home run for every new product launch. Some are just dud.
