Thanks for all the replies I was over at my parents at the weekend so dug out the old boat (h-itec sea nymph) and the radio gear was all present (Futaba attack sr). Given that I’m never likely to use the boat, I may as well just stick it on eBay as a bundle and use the money to cover a new transmitter/receiver Just waiting for my current crop of eBay things to sell, then I’ll get ordering

Hello, new guy here and to R/C in general The last couple of weeks I've been doing a bit of research on here and around the interwebs, eyeing up a few buggies, trucks etc Just after a bit of advice to see if I'm generally looking in the right direction . I'm really just after something to have a lark about with in the garden and in the park across the road, not going to take it racing. I've been following a few on eBay (hornet, mad bull, grasshopper, lunchbox) but once you factor in postage a lot of them are going for quite a large percentage of their new delivered cost (i.e. £35-50 and 10-15p&p). Think I've ruled out the lunchbox now, as I can see myself forever picking of its roof I've spotted the neo fighter going on eBay in kit form for £65 delivered. From what I've gathered it seems to be a more modern design, brand new for only a little more? Plus I'd get to build it Open to other suggestions! I may even still have some radio gear collecting dust in my parents loft from a boat I had many years ago, I’ll have to dig that out if they haven’t already disposed of it. From what I've seen radios have moved on a bit to digital now, would my old gear likely be compatible? Could always upgrade it later but would save on the initial spend out. Likewise with batteries I see there is a move towards lithium, but if I still have an old charger handy I'm planning to grab a cheap nimh to get me up and running and maybe splash out on a lipo/charger at a later date?
