  1. Ok thanks guys. I’ll go for stock again now and see how it hangs together. Interesting re the balljoint. I’ll give that a go if this fails again soon.
  2. Hi all, It’s been a a while since I was on here. Had a house move which became an unplanned renovation project then a baby boy appeared on the scene so not much time for models! Recently I did manage to get my trusty old TT-02 Dual Ridge out of storage and I was using it to entertain my mate’s kids when the right rear hub failed as it climbed a drop kerb. The top part of the hub (where the upper suspension arm attaches) has cracked through the bolt hole. I’m keen to get back up and running but wanted to ask; 1) where do you recommend I look for parts? 2) is the hub a part I should be looking to upgrade for CNC (I’m a hobbyist so I don’t want to spend a fortune when standard parts will do, but if it’s a known weakness of the model then I’m willing to “invest” to avoid the hassle next time!) 3) If CNC metal parts are a good idea, are there multiple suppliers? 4) While I’m ordering, are there any other likely failure parts I should cover in advance, i.e. parts that fail, wear out or cheap wins to replace parts that massively restrict performance? Thanks in advance! Alan
  3. 1) Get a house. 2) Get a shed. 3) Install my uprated motor in the Skyline. 4) Install a 2.4GHz RX in the Skyline so that I can run it again. 5) Find somewhere to use these cars, and maybe add a properly fast lipo car to the fleet so that I can try racing.
  4. I always liked the brighter box arts - they appeal to my inner child. The shells pictured above lack that as they're all quite low key. If I had the talent to paint a shell to box art standards then I'd be considering putting a "legacy" Porsche race livery on the modern 911 shell.
  5. I'm hoping that it'll wear in a little. It's a strange setup as stock.. The springs don't seem powerful enough when it's stood still but then when you drive along it seems too stiff and bouncy. The dampers seem too stiff, but the springs with the helpers are probably about right, now they have the "extra compressors". Had a great run out tonight. The battery is clearly coming good now. Ran it for an hour (albeit quite a lot of it at very low speed walking to and site) and the battery was still punching hard at the end. No issues to report. Brilliant model!
  6. What are those wheels on the Rising Storm / DF-02? They're stunning!
  7. That's great, thanks gents. I managed to take the buggy out last night for it's maiden run. Mostly low speed just to bed it all in, with a couple of quick blasts to high power toward the end. I'm really surprised by how well it goes and handles on stock equipment. I think the stock springs are comically poor though. Press it down by hand and it won't even rebound to normal height without help. The extra spring compressors help but it's still quite poor. Guess that's them incentivising me to visit the hop ups page right away! In any case, I'm really pleased with the new addition to the fleet and I'm looking forward to getting the shell sorted out and getting some proper running in!
  8. Or perhaps this? http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=400167537241
  9. Is this any good? http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B004ZQBYRS/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1432503870&sr=8-1π=AC_SY200_QL40&keywords=jis+screwdriver&dpPl=1&dpID=41x0LJMLFML&ref=plSrch&dpPl=1&dpID=41x0LJMLFML&ref=plSrch Most of them seem to be rather expensive for screwdrivers?
  10. Well it's taken a while but the last screw just went in! Now - consider that I swore to keep a detailed set of build photos as we went from this.... ...to this.... Coupled with one of these... ....and you see where I get my username! Shakedown run is planned for this evening. The build was relatively easy but I really need to find a screwdriver that effectively works the MA01s. I have about 5 Phillipsheads that are "almost there" but they all round off really easily if you're not careful, makes the build risky and physically painful as my hands are bruised from pressing the screwdriver so hard to stop it slipping. Any suggestions? That aside the only problem was two missing hex's for the wheels on the "b-tree". I've borrowed them from my old Cavalier FF. Not much left on that poor car now! Anyway. Just wanted to share the joy! Now I need to decide what colours to do on the shell..
