Bought/won this Dyna Storm off eBay.de about 6 months ago for a relativly cheap price, however the transaction turned sour as no car turned up and after reporting the seller to ebay, and leaving negative feedback. 6 weeks after winning the auction it turned up and it definetly wasn't worth the hassle :(. The car was really in poor shape, The Diff and Slipper had been gummed up with adhesive , rear suspension blocks snapped.

So with it all stripped it was slung in a box and forgotten about, until now. Very little of the original car will be used, so is purely a donor now. this will be a runner as I have a mint example allready :)

Stu, yikes, that is a bad one, but looks like you have it well covered with those parts!!! Are you going box art?

Oh, i may know a guy who has decals, same fella i got mine off, pretty sure he told me he had a spare set or two!

Indeed, I almost slung it in the bin with disgust!

The shelfer I have is more or less box art, so will probably go for something very bright & colorful

This weekends efforts, got as far as the parts would permit. The only things carried over from the old car are the diff drive cups, drive shafts, clutch housing and parts around the rear shock tower.

Stripping down the shocks next, the spings are distorted out of shape, so will need to work out as suitable replacement.

Looking sweet Stu. If i manage to get hold of the Hicaps mate, ill do you a good deal on my shocks if that helps you out down the road!

Stella had some rear hicaps for a good price but they're out of stock. Trying not to go too mad with this one so looking at alternate springs, its allready cost a small fortune in new parts and if i carry on the way i am I may as well bought a NIB kit lol!

There are the original Sleeved Dampers on sale on the traderoom here on TC.

Now they would be an ideal replacement!

Pulled the original dampers apart:

The oil inside resembled beef gravy in color and consistantcy, asthetically they're in bad shape under all the gunk.

so wil be looking into an alternate 85mm damper set up methinks, as this will be a runner I'll be not too fussy on orignality.

Why not just buy new cylinders/caps - they won;t cost any more than some inferior Chinese GPM/Yeah/3Racing shocks..

If this will be a runner you must not be too fussy about the look of the dampers. Sleeved are excellent dampers so clean and service yours and use them on the car imho.

It has to look reasonable good before I use it, otherwise I would of used all of the original parts, and I'd still need to source some springs (which are more like slinkys)

Right,

An order from Nimrod is on its way with loads of goodies to push the build along a bit further.

However I have a conumdrum - this turned up from Germany on friday:-

Way more better than the last one I bought! Slung a charged Lipo inside and batteries in the transmitter and was good to go. In really good condition goes fine, not the colour sheme I would personally choose, but as a runner/ its perfectly fine.

Now it leaves me to decide what to do with rebuild, I allready have a mint shelver, so I dont need another.

Thats looking better than where you started bud, looks a really good score. Im now not fitting my Nimrod arms, didn't realise id need longer shafts, doh, and i dont want to run other wheels, so ordered a set of Tamiya arms.

Maybe keep all your parts as spares for this as a runner, color isnt too bad, garish, but still pretty retro.

I'm tempted to peel off the faded decals and find some McDonalds ones :)

Always good to have spares, I keep looking at the chassis parts that Fibre Lyte do and get the rest of the Nimrod parts.

Longer driveshafts? Didn't see that mentioned on the web shop!

Fibrelyte you say??? Hmm ill have to go take a look. Yes, the rear arms widen the car a lot, making the std shafts defunct, seems most run TR15 shafts, which are like Unicorn poo, or TRF shafts with pin fit wheels.

So Nimrod do a undertray hey.

I need one to run my C/F chassis set that I have.

Nice build up & runner.

I love the D/S & was on track to podium with mine in Classic at the Vintage Festival till the pinion grub screw dropped out in one of the Final legs.

Should change the sticker from "Blowin up a Storm" to "Blowing Chunks" (throwing up) in honour of the McDonald's colour scheme lol
