  1. It's looking very good so far. Are you planning on getting any trailers for it?
  2. My Juggernaut 2 runs fine on one stock silver can. Depends on how fast/powerful you want it, though. Since I have at least about $700 in it, I don't drive it very hard.
  3. Can't wait to see some pics of this fixer-upper. Easy-Off oven cleaner(the stuff in the yellow can) is my 1st choice for removing paint. Depending on the type(s) of paint on there it will either take all the paint off with only few quick applications or barely touch it. Some types of paint need to be soaked in a bucket of brake fluid for several days. I once painted a body with Tamiya lacquer spray and it resisted oven cleaner and brake fluid. Surprisingly, I was able to remove it with denatured alcohol. When you clean the gearboxes, one trick I learned trying to remove nasty black grease stains from white nylon gears is tooth paste. Scrubbing parts with toothpaste and an old tooth brush really worked well for cleaning away tough greases.
  4. Not sure if you're still checking this thread, but anyway... Motor spray is an aerosol cleaning spray for electric motors(but works well for cleaning lots of other stuff). For greasey residue, you can spray some cleaner on a rag and wipe it off. For larger amounts of offending grease, you can spray it off over a garbage can. and wipe the excess cleaner off with a rag. As far as greases go, any grease that is specified plastic safe is fine. The cheapest and easiest grease to find locally for me is Permatex's dielectric grease(commonly found at auto parts stores). I can get a good sized tube of it for only about $7. Most dielectric greases are silicone based, which is plastic safe.
  5. Just started doing the same thing with my Double Blaze(twin det. with different body). I know it won't have quite as good performance, but to me the scale appearance makes it more fun to drive.
  6. All I can say is "wow". That truck must have taken a lot of work. If you add larger tires, I would upgrade some of the suspension parts(steering knuckle, front and read uprights). The wheel wideners are good for stability, but add a little more stress to the uprights.
  7. Couldn't find that exact combination. Does a 6x6 HL count? http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=127860 BTW, not mine.
  8. The wheel wells measure a whopping 4 inches(almost exactly) at the bottom and are 2 inches deep. I bought a HL body for my Jugg 2 since jugg bodies are so expensive(at least the ones I've seen).
  9. Oh come now, at least Tamiya makes new vehicles instead of slapping new wheels and bodies on an old chassis like Traxxas or Losi. Quantity is no substitute for quality. Anyway, they ARE going to release a new truck. Something never before made by Tamiya....a brushless RTR. http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=57789
  10. Thanks for the reply. I don't think that it was fully dry. Even though it felt dry, it would still make fingerprints. Kind of strange, though considering that I let it dry for over a week and it was still like that. Anyway, I'm stripping it and I'll paint it with Tamiya paint the good old fashioned way; in thin coats. Thanks again, Nate.
  11. Currently I'm working on building a truck as true to scale as I can. For the body I chose the Blackfoot Xtreme, which is a disguised '92-'96 f-150. With it, I'm trying to replicate a modified '92 F-150 Nite. I'm having problems with paint, though, unfortunately. Even though it's dry, running my finger lightly over the paint leaves fine scratches. The paint is Model Mastor Classic Black applied heavily for a high gloss finish. I wouldn't think that the paint is defective since I've used Testor's paints often before with no problems. Do you think that using (after stripping the old paint) Tamiya paint may work better?
  12. Tower hobbies and Stormer are good stores. This is the sport tuned motor. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti00...=LXGE34&P=7 Yes, it will work well with the stock esc.
