no reverse

Recommended Posts

So stuck my Monster Beetle basher shell onto my Blackfoot and took it to the beach for a bit of fun. For most of the run the reverse didn't work, it only started to work towards the end off the run. The brake was working fine the whole time. Anyone any ideas

Well, are you running originals or re-res? ESC or MSC? Lipos or regular batteries?

If you're running the car with a ESC chances are it might be the stress of running it on sand (which is enormous for the stock gearbox and gear ratios) combined with going ahead with the last bits of energy from the battery pack.

Sorry I should have given more info, it's an original 58058 Blackfoot, with an ESC and Lipo and stock silver can. The reverse never worked until 3/4 of the way threw the run.

On further investigation it looks like my motor has had it. Charged the battery up and it would neither go forward or backward, manually turned the wheels while engaging drive and it worked. There is a part which I assume is the rear of the shaft and it is wobbling about, so it looks like the bearing has collapsed. Not really fussed as it's the original motor, which has been noisy since my rebuild and I am waiting on a Sport tuned arriving, and have a 17T in my parts bin if I get impatient and want to risk blowing up the gearbox
