My Monster Beetle QD - with a twist...
bugone replied to bugone's topic in Monster Trucks, 4x4, Wheelie Rigs and Crawlers
I realised that my son has had the Monster Beetle QD for 3 years now without destroying it, so I thought it was time to upgrade him. I've upgraded him to silver can, added LiPo, replaced the shocks with proper air shocks and better tyres. It now shifts! # -

Chassis differences - lunchbox/beetle

The monster beetle chassis is a beautiful thing. You can strengthen the gearbox by adding a screw through the diff. Not the easiest thing to do, but is enough to push a lot more power through it. -

I've now fitted some extensions to the rear axles, to push the tyres out to match the fronts.

Kids ride on cars - with twin brushless motors
bugone replied to bugone's topic in Anything not RC related goes here
A 6v car is a bit easier as they're usually one motor on one wheel. The hardest bit I found is finding a matching pinion. -
Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I used two servo testers and a relay to switch the signal wire going to the esc between the two servo testers. I had the servo tester that was connected when no current was going through the relay at neutral, and the other servo tester at the speed I wanted the vehicle to run at. So, you could use any esc with this setup. The relay I got ran at 5v so just powered through the BEC. My son now has jeep style car. I've swapped out the 12v lead acid for two 5000mah 11.1v lipos. Despite the lower voltage, it's much more powerful.

Took my son out with the QD for a blast in the mud. It handled it pretty well. The QD design kept all the electronics dry. Had to completely strip it to get it clean though. -
Any esc that treat forward and reverse as identical?

Fantastic, thanks. -

Do you think this would do? http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=331693606337&alt=web -

11.1v. No self centering. The motor is already built into the steering gearbox. It's a brushed 380. -

It has to cope with a toddler fighting against it, so don't think a servo would be overly happy doing that job. -

I'm looking to replace the electrics on my daughters ride on car with better gear (the existing circuit is fried). I need a way of controlling the motor that drives the steering. Are there any electric speed controllers that I can use to run this motor from a standard receiver? It would have to treat forward and reverse as identical. -
