For me the Screw mod was working great for about 10 minutes, but those **** screws always break off. Does anyone know where I can order good Screws for this mod ? I used M2.5 Screws with green Hobbyking Threadlocker. The Screws are holding extremely well, but they seem to be made out of a soft metal. I've ordered three different packs of screws and all of them broke off. I've made some pictures, to clarify my jabbering: http://imgur.com/a/eJulQ

Blackfoot counter gear
thedoginthewok replied to manoakane's topic in Monster Trucks, 4x4, Wheelie Rigs and Crawlers
Ebay Article Number: 251096809672 (I'm not the seller) Very Expensive, but it's a hop up. I also have a plastic one, but I don't know if it's worth anything, because it's 30 years old and may be fragile. -

What TL01 Parts did you use for the front hubs and how is it working for you ? I want to be able to use 12mm hex wheels in the front, too. -
Tamiya Blackfoot Vintage Hop Up Shock Mounts
thedoginthewok replied to thedoginthewok's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Thanks for the answer. Another question: My blackfoot came with the JG Front Shockmount and the Stock front mount both assembled on the truck. Is this the right way to use it ? (I hope you understand what I mean) -
Subaru Brat Rear Axle Problems...

You could also buy aluminum shock mounts from junfac: http://www.junfac.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=438 I have them on my Blackfoot and they're pretty good. The shocks can be mounted in 3 slightly different positions. But they're a but expensive.- 10 replies

Hello, About 10 years ago, when I saved a Blackfoot from a dumpster, it had these Shock Mounts on them (circled red in the picture). I just want to know if someone here recognizes them and can tell me if they are any good. I converted my BF back to stock. This picture is taken from an ebay auction, so this is not mine.

Anyone here watching 'Justified'? I've seen the recent episode and there is an old dude working on something that looks like an original Blackfoot. Some Screenshots: http://imgur.com/lx2Gi,APLrl#1 What do you think ? Is it a Blackfoot ? I just wanted to share this with someone

Tamiya Blackfoot Rear Body Mounts Length
thedoginthewok replied to thedoginthewok's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Thank you very much. I had in mind to use screw instead of pins, because my body is not in good shape and the holes are huge. Shims and screws should solve the issue. -
Hello I am currently repairing my 58058 Blackfoot and I need new rear Body Mounts. I mean part J1 and J6. I want to build them myself, because I know they are extremely hard to get. Now what I need to know is how long they are, because the guy that owned my Blackfoot shortened them and I don't have a clue how long the body mounts should be. It would be nice, if someone could measure the length and post it here. Thanks in advance and Greets from Germany!

Tamiya Blackfoot Steering Problem
thedoginthewok replied to thedoginthewok's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Okay, thanks for your answers! I still have to buy so many things, until my Blackfoot is finished and I don't have enough money. It will take month -.- -
I did Number 8 from the Blackfoot Reliability Guide (Here), and now I have a problem. I really don't know how to describe it, but I will try. When I push up the wheel suspension the axle moves. I made a video of it, because I can't describe it: I just want to know if this is normal. Or can it be avoided ? What can I do ? I guess nothing, because I don't know how to fix that.

Problems applying oldfrogshot's screw mod
thedoginthewok replied to thedoginthewok's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Oh yes I did. In the "Blackfoot Chassis Reliability Mods Guide" they were shown and recommended, so I ordered one. Only problem is, since I live in Germany and I ordered from USA it will take a very long time until the servo saver gets here. Thats why I hacked a servo saver together with parts from servo horns and cable strap. It works for now and hopefully will work, until my Kimbrough saver arrives. I also attached an old license plate instead of my body xD Back: Now it looks like a bug xD Front: This is just a tempory test drive protection. edit: Today I tested a brushless motor on my blackfoot. I killed the gear that holds the diff, but the diff is fine thanks to oldfrogshots screw mod xD I could drive for 20 minutes without problems, but than something started cracking. I used a 3200kv motor with a 3s lipo. I will buy a 2000kv motor, that should be fine with the gears. -
Problems applying oldfrogshot's screw mod
thedoginthewok replied to thedoginthewok's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Thanks for your answers. I have completed the mod now. I know how to use a tap, but my first broke. I bought another set of taps and it worked with much lube and patience. My gearbox is finished, but I broke my servo saver after a 2 minute test run . I already ordered a new one. -
Problems applying oldfrogshot's screw mod
thedoginthewok posted a topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Hello I bought a hand tap set, screws and 2 new drills for oldfrogshot's screw mod. ( http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...2&cid=24674 ) Today I tried to use the hand taps, but the tap broke. This is my second m2,5 tap set and both broke and I was trying to be very gentle. Same story with the drill -.- I just can't drill through this drive cup. I used an HSS Co drill Do you have any suggestions, what I can do ? Or is there even somebody here, willing to apply the mod to my drive cups ? I already bought the screws, so I only need to drill one drive cup and tap a thread trough the other one.
